McShay: “2. New York Jets: QB Fernando Mendoza, Indiana
I love that Mendoza knows exactly who he is. He’s also tough and has the ability to shake off mistakes and deliver in clutch moments—two traits that are critical for success at QB no matter what team drafts you.
But those intangibles are even more important when you’re selected by the Jets, who have a track record of failed quarterback draft picks from Mark Sanchez to Sam Darnold and Zach Wilson.
Mendoza is older, more mature, and has started more games than each of those guys did coming out of college. Darnold is more naturally talented, but Mendoza is better equipped to overcome the challenges of being a rookie starting quarterback in New York.

16. New York Jets (via Indianapolis): IDL Peter Woods, Clemson
The Jets got their QB of the future with the no. 2 pick. Now it’s time to rebuild the rest of the roster.
Woods is one of the five or seven most talented players in the class. I thought he could be a top-five pick in the summer when I did his tape study, but he, like most of the Clemson team, regressed in 2025. There’s some work to do on the why, but in talking to NFL scouts, the grades on Woods are still pretty damn high.
He’s a tricky prospect, but Woods could make for a good long-term replacement along the interior defensive line in New York after the Jets traded Quinnen Williams to the Cowboys at the deadline.”

  3. Mendoza to me looks like a game managing type of QB. Think Mac Jones with a little better arm. Whoever the BPA is when the Jets pick will fill a need. Not in love with a DT in the first.

  6. Fernando Mendoza is going to the Raiders overall number one. He’s the most ready pro prospect in this QB week class. The Jets needs to just trade down from number two and obtain more pics and fill up this roster if Kyler Murray is available as far as him being released and he’s a free agent I will try to go after a one year prove it deal.

  7. Mcshay just wants to be relevant. His podcast now is all rumors and selling his player ranking. Nobody knows anything these Gm’s and players are going to do on day one of the offseason

  9. The reality is that Glenn needs to win games in 2026. Sign a proven veteran QB and take a flyer in the later RD's on prospects like Beck, or Allar. The defense and WR need to be addressed early.

  14. I would bet Brady would say his own upside was his work ethic, maintaining his throwing mechanics, throwing with extreme accuracy and anticipation.
    This supposed upside everyone seems to want in athleticism and a huge arm means nothing if they don't have the foundation. Like tou said zach wilson…The separation from player to player is more in their determination to win and their processing speed imo.

What if we draft a qb but go for a Malik Willis on like a 2 year deal. what if we finally are patient instead of rushing and we let our future qb sit for a year. we have so many picks as well that are top 50 players over the next 2 years as well. if we move smart and don’t rush, we can actually change things around

  17. I got to film inside Clemson’s facilities this past summer and good god that place is incredible. Idk if I’d put it on the program bc they’re pumping money into that program hardcore

  33. moore is like darnold. how many years will it take for him to get there. if i am jets and moore stays in college or available at 2, i trade back for another 1, 2 or a 27 1 and make a killing this year and sign willis.

  35. With Pete Carroll and all the coaches being fired after bad seasons today, you know what the conversation around here is going to be this week.

I'm preying the Raiders take Moore and leave Mendoza for us but with our luck they'll take Mendoza we'll end up with Moore he's not built for NY and we don't have the coaches for him he'll be a bust here then go somewhere else and revive his career. Personally I wouldn't even take Moore if Mendoza is gone I'd trade down and stack then draft a QB next year
