  1. The thing with Stearns is that I believe he really doesn’t know what to do I think he is in over his head running a big market team. Most GMs would love to be in the position Stearns is in right now having the opportunity to spend big and trade big but he really does t know what to do. Cohen gave him the chance to finally take over and make deals and he has been extremely slow and skittish all at the same time. He is not in Milwaukee anymore where he can do little moves and keep it moving. Cohen wants to see his GM make that SPLASH. Cohen is not concerned about the money at all. Cohen wants to spend but Stearns seems too reluctant to do anything to improve the ball club. It’s extremely frustrating as a Mets fan. Theses players are gonna start coming off the board fast. He’s gotta start making serious moves.

  2. Rob nowhere in the athletic did it say the mets are "ALL IN" for top of the line starting pitching market. This is the exact quote from my The athletic subscription " The Mets remain seriously interested in adding to their rotation. A trade for a front-line starter like Peralta or Cabrera is possible. Another option is signing someone like Valdez to a shorter deal with a higher AAV. If those things do not happen and the Mets still feel like they need innings, they could look to the mid-tier free agent starting pitcher market." The Althletic was VAGUE on what the mets are looking to do.. .but says the are "seriously interested in adding to their rotation". No where does it talk about Tarik Skubal… and Cabrera is mentioned but he is not a front line starter only Peralta is. In a different part of the article they talk about the brewers. "The Freddy Peralta talks are about to resume in earnest. Both New York clubs, the Los Angeles Dodgers, Atlanta Braves and Boston Red Sox are among the teams showing interest. Some low-revenue clubs that can absorb Peralta’s $8 million salary are in play as well. The Brewers’ price, even with Peralta under club control for one more season, remains high. A major-league-ready starting pitcher figures to be part of the desired return, so the team can remain a contender. And the calculus also includes this: Any team that acquires Peralta can recoup one prospect by making him a qualifying offer and receiving a likely Competitive Balance Round A pick in the low 30s in 2027.
