Obviously this is just two brothers chopping it up. No insider information. The idea of Carr being the veteran to assist with the transition of a rookie QB has been brought up in this sub. I guess it could be a real possibility if they went with Kubiak.

The Carr brothers discussing their desire for Klint Kubiak as head coach of the Raiders, hinting at Derek’s reunion with his former offensive coordinator

  1. Klint Kubiak as a sharp offensive minded HC would be money🏴‍☠️DC4 as QB2 & Mentor to Mendoza✔️

  2. Derek Carr on a proper farewell tour as the bridge QB? So we don’t have to rush the rookie & suffer through another Geno as a result?

  3. I would chop off my right nut to send this man off the right way. Derek would be a great mentor.

It sounds like he’s open to it, bring our boy home.

  4. We need dc during training camp just let him share some knowledge with Mendoza and get back around his raider family. Like Ritchie did a few seasons ago.

  5. I took a look at the list of upcoming free agent QBs today, and I couldnt peg anyone on the list as a great fit for a veteran QB2/mentor role. But if Derek were willing to come back in that role, it feels like he would be a perfect fit for many reasons.

New Orleans probably wouldn’t have a problem releasing him if he unretired, but I have no idea what the salary cap implications would be of his existing contract.

  6. Please bring this man back. Him and Mendoza would probably get along really well since they are both huge God guys. And the poise and professionalism he brought is something that I hope never gets forgotten.

  7. Fuck it. Bring him home. Let him beta test the new OL and give Mendoza a mentor he will eventually surpass.

  8. Doesn’t the Saints still have the rights to his contract?

Why are we always looking to the past?

  9. Come back home Carr. You still have 2-3 years left you in you!. Philip Rivers came back for Christ sake!

  10. Only if he’s on vet minimum and CAN BE CAPABLE TO PLAY. If his injury was as serious as reported, no need for him to force himself to play. He can be the QB coach or something. We would need a capable backup in case of injuries.

I’ll actually cry to see his first W back as a Raider.

  12. Mark my words. Kubiak will be the Raiders next HC. The Seachickens are playing in Vegas next year. The NFL loves setting up these kind of storyline “New couch going against former team”.

  13. A couple of years ago, Derek said in an interview that he had a call with Mark Davis after he left the Raiders. He said that Mark Davis suggested that he can come back to the Raiders in some capacity after two or three years. I think that’s always been the plan. Does anyone else remember that?

  14. Carr needs to light the torch for the home opener. That’s when the most raider fans are in the building and all hope isn’t yet lost

  15. I would def take Carr back to mentor the rookie 100%

Idk what his contact situation is with the saints but that would be a massive addition to the QB room and allow proper development for once.

  16. This would be the ideal stop gap if we were to get one for Mendoza. He’ll actually thrive as a mentor.

  17. Wasn’t Derek “that motherfucker” Tom Brady referred to in his famous comment? I would love to see Carr as a mentor/stop gap to Mendoza but I don’t think him and Brady like each other very much.

  18. Maybe the Raiders can trade Geno to New Orleans for Carr as a veteran presence to mentor Mendoza?

  19. Man if DC came back to bridge until the Rook QB is ready, we could go 0-18 and it would still be a great season. 🥹

  20. I’m all for Klint coming aboard, but PLEASE GOD NO, let Carr stay where he is. Nothing against him, just all the division he brings. All the arguing and hate and rage that happens every single fucking time his name is so much has mentioned anywhere.

  21. As long as Carr doesn’t teach Mendoza to throw the ball away on 4th downs, refuse to throw Hail Marys, fumble out of the end zone, have horrible ref zone capability, and tell media talking heads he wants to fight them in cage matches I guess so…

  22. Derek Carr is OBSESSIVE about OL protections. I want to bring him back just because I think it’ll help the OL

  23. DC and Kubiak were tearing up the league until the Saints lost 2 guards and a center in one game.
Trevor Penning was anchoring the oh-line.
DC got knocked out and that was that.
Kubiak was the best coordinator DC had in his career.

  24. Mendoza will sell tickets to start this season, DC could come in mid season to make some quick money for Marky Mark.

All about putting on a show in Vegas, watch them overpay a washed up big name defensive guy in the offseason, or a WR. Every fucking time

  25. I think Carr would make a hell of a coach. That dudes seen so many different coaches, systems, and playbooks he’s gotta know what works and doesnt. That shit must have turned him into a guru. Plus he was always good at reading coverages and making changes at the line. He had strong leadership and character. Hope hes our coach someday.

  26. He means as a coach? Like assistant QB coach or something?

As a player? No. I don’t see it.

  27. Bring this man home, Brady. If there was ever a “stopgap” QB who would be welcomed with open arms while Mendoza trains, it’s this guy.

He’s the perfect guy to pave the way for when Fernando comes online.
