I think we can acknowledge:
1. He had a tough position to step into and handled it relatively well
2. This is certainly NOT a top defense in the league, regardless of what numbers say
Not just no DC experience, he hadn’t even been a position coach in the league.
Our defense is awful
Not just no prior DC experience, but this was his first year as a full position coach at all. Guy is incredibly young, and our defensive coaching staff is pretty young as a whole.
Thought they did admirably. Gotta get an Edge.
Bro is not good
There’s a million good things you can say about this team. The defense being good isn’t one of them…teams move the ball at will on us. Good teams will eat it alive. The Chargers weak offensive line will be our saving grace.
Our defense is a disaster when the opponent is in our red zone. Legitimately an almost guaranteed TD against us in that position.
Lol hero? Tops defenses in the league???
Wait, we like him now? Three hours ago we were hoping to hire Brian Flores.
Shhh…🤫 🤐
That guy looks like the sales associate of the month at Eastern Mass Chevrolet.
I was telling my buddy this guy should be considered for an assistant coach award. What he did was no easy feat.
lol top defense? what?
Sorry I have no idea who the guy is
definitely not a top defense lol.
We know playoff matchup and in game adjustments are a different animal. Hopefully vrabel lets McDaniels do his thing and focuses on helping him succeed in his first playoff experience.
Is the “one of the top defenses in the league” in the room with us rn?
I don’t want to take anything away from him, but I feel the whole season could have gone differently if we lost our OC instead and Vrabel had to fill gaps on offense as opposed to filling gaps on defense.
It def helps that Vrabes was a defender coached under BB.
I wonder if Bill Belichick would come back as defensive coordinator somewhere and just scheme up ridiculous defenses like he used to without having to deal with the headaches of being HC.
Suprised the defense wasn’t worse, still a bottom 20 unit itl tho
top what in the league? he’s done a serviceable job. but based on what are they a top defense in the league?
He did well, but our defense needs to get much better,
the reason the LA Bananas choose to play is is because we have no pass rush
I mean… I think we have an average defense at best. We played horrific offenses most of the year.
