Ricketts is the cheapest billionaire in the world. You’ve got plenty of money to make the Cubs competitive year after year. They don’t give a shit as long as they can charge $15 a beer and the place is sold out every home game
U know you're trying to be positive off season shows are fueled by optimism but ever since they pulled the rug on us last trade deadline I just don't believe the Tom Ricketts cares to Compete seriously going forward and I don't believe the going a front line any thing lets focus on convincing him to sell the Cubs s and then convince Mark Cuban to buy them because he won't own team unless it he's doing whatever he can to win!! Chicago and Cub fans deserve that kind of ownership!! Go Cubs!!

It’s not really an “over market value deal” if that’s just the current state of the market. A high demand, short supply market will always cost inflated rates. Ricketts and Hoyer don’t want to make a winning team. They want an “above average” team for as cheap as possible and hope they get hot at the right time to win. Except the team they put together does the opposite and don’t want to spend the money or trade capital to make them better because they’re greedy and don’t know how to run a team.

Since Theo Epstein, Hoyer and the Ricketts have failed this team, fan base, and the city of Chicago. They have made the Cubs an undesirable place to play. Even if they do sign a top free agent, they will leave because they know they FO will do nothing else. Then you have this guy who makes excuses for the FO. GTFOH.
Let’s be real here. The Cubs are associated with all these players because the agents float their name out there. They are a leverage team that’s it. Everybody knows it’s conceivable that the Cubs would be in on them because they are flush with money. But everybody also knows that the Cubs are not going to spend it. They are convenient team to throw out there to boost up other people’s contracts. That’s it. The Cubs are not a serious organization.

It seems as if 2016 was an anomaly. The wallet was open; they got Lester and Arrietta. The core was in place: KB, Baez, Addison Russell, and Rizzo with Fowler, Zobrist, and Contreras, but since then, ownership has proven that they can’t/won’t play with the big boys. They think they can go cheap and win.
