One potentially interesting thing to watch this off season: Mahomes’ contract restructure. His 10 year contract was designed to be restructured every 3-4 years in order to give him some leverage over its duration, and we’re at the end of that cycle. Also, it gives him a soft “out” in his contract by refusing to restructure and forcing his way out of Kansas City if he’s unhappy.
Now I’m sure there will be a restructure, but it’ll be interesting to see if Mahomes uses this process to express his unhappiness with the organization, or ask for more money if the organization doesn’t look competitive and Pat’s endorsement money dries up as a result.
