I can only imagine if Hali and the rest our team didn’t get decimated with injuries what our record would be. The East is extremely weak and I fully believe we would be #1 right now and would be back to the Finals without much competition. Can’t wait for next season! #cers

  1. Detroit is the only team that looks like they’ve progressed. Everyone else in the East stayed the same or got worse.

    Philly and Toronto marginally better.

  2. I’ve kinda been checked out, why is Boston having a good year? Was Tatum their only major injury?

  3. Still waiting to see Knicks fans in NBAEastMemeWar tell me what their excuse is this year. This is a painful season but the chance at the lottery is worth it and hopefully getting the injury bugs out this season.

  4. Yeah Idk what people think they’re talking about when they say our championship window is closed. When Haliburton gets back and everyone is healthy and we get a seriously talented dude in this draft (speaking it into existence) THIS is the murderer’s row we have to fight and claw through to get back to the finals? Embiid’s knees are a ticking time bomb. NY can only be so good with a 6 ft guard as the head of the snake. Detroit is pretty good and this core will be around for a while but it’s nothing to shit our pants over. Not worried about toronto. I foresee Washington being a problem if they draft Darryn Peterson because they need a connective guard. Cleveland is nosediving to a total rebuild. But yeah, I don’t think Indy is going to get 60 wins next year because everyone is going to be getting their feet under them again. But there’s no reason we can’t secure 4 seed or higher next year.

  5. Celtics looked pretty good last night, but part of that was the Bulls couldn’t get the ball in the hoop and were <20 points both of the first two quarters

  6. Its going to be crazy next year with Haliburton + Siakam + Peterson

And I have a feeling KP makes a signature trade for a center this offseason, will be a fun team.

Still salty that we were robbed of a legendary championship (will always feel this way) but, there are good things to look forward to.

  7. That was always the 2nd worst part of Hali’s injury. The East was going to be wide open this year with Tatum out, the Bucks and Sixers being at the end of their window, the Cavs over performing last year, and the Knicks being the Knicks.

  8. I still think Detroit would be better than us. Deeper team, Cade is a 2 way all nba player, Duren is a beast. I like detroits roster over any team outside of OKC and the Spurs

  9. I don’t think it’s a given that if we were healthy we would carve through the conference. We haven’t been an elite regular season team in a long time, there would be a target on our backs, and the league is more familiar with the Pacers’ style of play than in past seasons. I also think 40 games is too early to asses the conference….beyond the Pistons and Knicks, the Cavs, Magic, Sixers could finish strong and get very dangerous (sorry Boston, not buying it, respect though). Wouldn’t surprise me if we were a 5 seed again, though I’d obviously love our chances come playoff time.

  10. I really thought we’d round into shape and make the playin there for a couple weeks in early December. I really thought with some guys coming back that we’d be decent.

Oh well. Peterson or Dybantsa will be fun

  11. I’m going to admit something that’s not so popular. The regular season doesn’t matter all that much. Typically the younger teams will get a great sense of accomplishment because they have a good record, but the veteran teams usually succeed in the playoffs. Last season, the Pacers had the 4th seed and came close to winning it all. The Finals was the only time it came down to a Game 7. The Kings got the #2 seed recently, and all of the fans claimed they won the Sabonis-Haliburton trade. Then they lost to the Warriors and have sucked since. Back in 2014, the Pacers thought that the only thing that was holding them back from beating the Heat was home court advantage. That series only went to 6 games.

Most of the time, if you’re a good enough team, the seeding doesn’t matter. That’s why I had suggested that getting into the play-in would at least give the Pacers a chance when mostly healthy. The Heat even made it to the Finals recently as a #8 seed. The only time when seeding is important is when it’s one-and-done. It’s just hard to find any champion who didn’t win any games on the road during the playoffs or took every series to a Game 7.
