5. Yes — that is goaltending in the NBA.

   Under NBA rules, once an offensive player’s shot touches the backboard, it is considered to be on its downward flight and on the cylinder. If a defensive player then slaps the ball against the backboard or interferes with it, that’s defensive goaltending.

   Result:
   • The basket counts automatically for the offense.
   • The defense cannot touch the ball after it hits the backboard while it’s on its way to the rim.

   Exception to know:
   • If the ball hits the backboard after clearly missing the rim (e.g., wide of the cylinder), then it may be legally played — but if it’s a normal shot headed toward the basket, touching it after the backboard = goaltending.

30. Stopped watching and sure glad I did seeing stuff like this. The game is seriously flawed now due to the ref situation. I miss the days when the Knicks, Bulls and Pistons could practically murder each other on the courts and the refs weren't impacting the outcome. We'll never see that greatness again.
