(Schefter) BREAKING: Commanders and Kliff Kingsbury mutually agreed to part ways

  1. I know it wasn’t perfect, but we never really got to see what he and Jayden could get cooking in that second year with a full roster. This season really will go down as a what could have been.

    Good luck Kliff.

  2. Grass isn’t always greener. Hope DQ has a plan in place here.

Could be that they think Kliff is going to get a HC job so we are getting ahead of it by starting the OC search now

  3. this gives me confidence in the FO. no more running on vibes, make the tough decisions asap so the team can be rebuilt and maximize our star qb.

  4. If people who love to abandon the run could read, they would be really upset right now.

  5. Don’t hate it don’t love it. Kliff dealt with an injured roster this year, that being said a lot of games half the game was spent saying wtf is this. A lot of games we started down by 10+ points and clawed our way back. Can’t do that during late January or feb football.

After last year wouldn’t have minded to give him another year but it was looking like he may not entirely be it, and if ain’t it, it ain’t and you’re just wasting time for it.

Not sure who we go for now or who would good to replace him, but good luck Kliff go back to the cardinals so I can joke with my buddy about it

  6. Kevin Sheehan in shambles right now. I GUESS DIANA’S SOURCES AINT SO BAD AFTER ALL PARTNER!

  7. Good. Too many conservative calls at the start of games left us chasing both this year and last. Get JD under centre more and throw the ball beyond the line of scrimmage.

  8. I will forever be grateful to Kliff for what he did for us in Jayden’s rookie season.

    HOWEVER.

I don’t believe Kliff was capable of fully unlocking Jayden. I’m extremely excited to see what a new OC can do for him and I hope he gets at least one new weapon.

  9. Man I wosh the best for kliff.
I hope whoever takes his place also enjoys the fast paced offense when have gad these past two years. Its fun to watch and it seems like the players enjoy it too.

  10. Writing was on the wall with that presser and the lack of a vote of confidence. Quinn had better ace the next coordinator selections.

  11. Adam: we need to protect JD 5 better.

DQ: ok, then we need to move to an under center play action based offense.

Kliff: I’m not going to do that

  12. I’m not sure how I feel, I do think getting Jayden into an NFL offense would be cool though. Here’s to hoping we go for a young up and comer rather than an old man

  13. Kliff had one of the best offenses in football a season ago. Even then he had to put up a 100 points a game to compensate for a putrid defense. This season he was without his starting qb, te, rb and wr for the majority of the season… but it’s his fault? Meanwhile the D is still straight trash and thats supposed to be Quinns strength… make it make sense.

  14. I’m indifferent on this move. On one hand I hated how on short distance plays like 3rd and 4th and 1 we were always in Shotgun. I would prefer under center to have our RBs running with momentum to gain that first down.

In goal line situations he would often abandon the run when it was the run game that got your there.

On the other hand the offense was dynamic with Jayden running it but he would often call off tackle run plays with Jayden.

I would love to see Jayden an offense that uses his legs as a weapon but not to run. Have him under center with bootlegs in the playbook. These plays will open up the run game with the defense worried Jayden can keep it and run or throw it over their heads.

  15. Get ready for an offseason of drama. “JD not consulted on Kliff firing blah blah blah”

  16. The Seahawks game told everything. Jayden didn’t think Kliff could scheme guys open and he was scrambling or trying to run for first downs from the opening play.

  17. Everyone here saying “it’s a bad decision”, are ignoring the “mutually agree” part.

That’s code for Kliff wanted out too. Not really a decision that a finger can be pointed at.

  18. That option call that messed up Jayden’s elbow probably was the straw that broke the camel’s back.

  19. I hope this means we are bringing in someone to run a pro style offense

Because otherwise this move makes no sense

  20. I like Kliff, but one thing I have noticed with his offense through his career is that it works great the first season and then defenses figure it or and progressively gets worse. Unfortunately we didn’t really get to see much of what he could have done this year with Jayden hurt most of the season, but what we did see wasn’t working as well as last season.

  21. I’m okay with this. Before this season I was all in on KK. But his playcalling this year varied between genius, oh my God what the fuck are you thinking, and you’re literally trying to kill our QB! I think this move had to happen in order for Jayden to have any chance of remaining somewhat healthy going forward.

  22. It needed to happen. There’s a reason nobody runs this offensive style in the NFL.

  23. I think people in this thread are missing the point that although the offense was decent without a lot of starters, he was the one calling plays that put Jayden in a position to get rocked. Even outside of the injury plays, the QB counters and draws led to some massive hits that add up. He didn’t protect Jayden and refused to do so

  24. 49er fan here. You guys should be gunning for our OC Klay Kubiak. As a matter of fact, im very sure hes youre next OC.

Real smart dude and better than Kliff for sure.

  25. Thank god. Ego-driven play caller running an unsustainable offense with no desire to adjust his scheme even with insurmountable evidence in front of him to the contrary. He will fail once again if he thinks this nonsense will work at the NFL level. Let him go get Dart or Ward killed.

  26. Wish Dolphins let go of Mike McDaniel so Commanders could get him for the offensive coordinator role😩

  27. Quinn certainly isnt hiding anywhere. He could have gone the safe route, just fired Whitt and hired a guy, but hes laying his stamp on everything and taking risks here. Both his hires have to work out now. If it doesnt work out, he gets fired at the end of the season.

Im sure the main hope is McDaniels but remains to be seen if he gets fired.
