But I don’t think he’s the solution to our offensive issues. He runs a ton of RPOs and shotgun similar to Andy, with less motion and less diverse alignment, and a ton of tempo which gasses your defense. We already saw the defense appearing gassed at times this past season and we basically never ran tempo.
The best offensive coaches in the NFL right now are primarily from the Shanahan/McVay tree. Kliff is not that.
Where is Eric b at?
My dream hire for our next OC would be Mike McDaniel
My most optimistic hire for our next OC is EB
My 3rd choice hire for our next OC is Kliff Kingsbury
Arrested Development: but it might work for us
No
New blood. Not old exes.
Agree with previous comments on a McVay or Shanahan tree hire. That’s the dream.
I think the most realistic hire of which I would approve is Mike Kafka.
Maybe some people are meant to be great OCs and not HC, like In theory Roger Deakins would make a good director but he’s probably better as the cinematographer
Does it really matter if Andy is the one calling the plays?
🤦
I don’t know Cliff personally, but this picture is very unflattering. And it makes him look like a GIANT tool.
We have a big brain, big picture guy in Andy Reid.
We need a fundamentals, execution, and details guy.
The dream OC would be EB, of course.
I would certainly like someone from the Rams staff under McVay.
Kingsbury would be someone, If we hire him, my reaction wouldn’t be ecstatic, it would be more like “okay, we got Kingsbury, good coach, now when’s Patrick ready.”
Would be A 7/10 hire for me.
Andy wouldn’t function with a high profile, big time OC. He wouldn’t work with Mike McDaniel as OC. Because they would clash. Andy does not delegate much on offense. It is his show. Andy maintains an iron grip over the offense. He is not the CEO type head coach.
Only if he is going to actually coordinate the offense, and call the plays. If not, they might as well wait until Big Red gets run out of town.
I believe I read he wants to be a HC again. Might be his priority if he can get the gig again.
I would be very surprised of the next OC is not an in-house hire.
Home run hire. Instantly makes us SB contenders and I’d bet on at least 3 more rings before Mahomes retires
Kingsbury or McDaniels would be amazing as long as Reid let’s them have some freedom and play calling.
Everybody wants EB back. Everyone wanted him fired when last he was here.
I do not understand. Is this Memberberries?
Kliff would have instant success but he hasn’t been able to maintain it at any of his coaching stops. Plus he’s much better at the passing game than running the ball so the chiefs would continue to struggle in that area. I’m not against the hire if he’s going to learn from Reid while also committing to a balanced attack.
He’s just Temu Andy Reid. So I suppose it makes sense, but I’m not looking forward to another year of RPO bunch-sets shotgun ad nauseum.
What would you think of Steffanski?
I predict Reid will appoint himself dual role HC/OC.
I want an OC not from Andy’s coaching tree and I’d really like it if Veach/Donovan told Andy to let the OC call plays.
Without this, we’re going to have more of the same.
I love Andy and he’s done great things here, but the scheme is stagnant. Teams have figured him out and we need something unpredictable.
I don’t care that Pat’s familiar with him. I care that he’s run a different system than Reid and could challenge Reid with new concepts while building on Reid’s system.
Unfortunately, his play design and playcalling was seen as pretty simplistic with Kyler and probably was with Daniels too (rookie QB, keeping things simple), so IDK if he’s a real innovator.
Ultimately, I like him better than EB or Kafka or Pederson or Nagy (the status quo). But less than Pats Thomas Brown or some other names out there running impressive offenses.
In general I don’t see this as a OCs dream destination. They don’t call plays and as we saw with EB they don’t get the credit when it goes well but like Nagy get the blame when it’s bad lol. Why would a Kingsbury or McDaniel come here if they are trying it further their careers??

I’m sure we could do better
If Mahomes wants it you keep Mahomes happy
