Penguins Expected To Place Egor Zamula On Unconditional Waivers
January 5, 2026
He isn't good enough to be acting like this honestly, and he's actively destroying his career by refusing to report.

Well F this guy then
What a bizarre turn of events. I figured him not reporting and being “suspended” by WBS might mean they were going to give him a look in Pittsburgh and sit Kulak for a game or two.
I don’t think we were ever going to see Tomasino in Pittsburgh again but still bad to give up a decent player with some upside for nothing.
I think this is a welcome thing. I truly believe they wanted Tomasino off the books free and clear without having to bring in another contract.
thanks for the cap space buddy
I mean he just kissed any chance at an NHL career goodbye. Guess he will just go play in the KHL from now on?
It kind of feels like moving money around was the whole point of this. Why else would you trade for a guy you could have picked up for free on waivers 2 weeks ago if not for wanting to get Tomasino off the books?
I’m excited for the tribute video whenever he comes to Pittsburgh
So did the Penguins want to save some money or Philly just screwed us?

Whatever, get him off the books and let him go make some money in the KHL. I can’t believe Dubas knew this would happen and wanted to clear cap space. If freeing up money was the case he would’ve just traded Tomasino for future considerations or a late pick. Unless, the Flyers needed to move someone to take Tomasino, but then why not get at least a pick in return for helping the Flyers get Zamula off their books?
Idk. Weird stuff. Russian dudes love going back to the KHL when they aren’t sticking in the NHL, instead of just playing their way out of the AHL.
It’s not like he’s the second coming of Bobby Orr. Losing Tomasino wasn’t a big deal.

I’m guessing this trade was also doing right by Tomasino so that he wasn’t stuck in the ahl, or at least have a viable path back to the nhl.
This is kind of what we should expect, taking anything from that trash organization.
Looks like we did the flyers a favour here. Fuck the flyers. Fuck the flyers. Fuck the flyers. Did I say, fuck the flyers.
Losing Tomasino clearly hasn’t impacted us *that* much, looking back on the past five games.
I feel like the NHL needs to have some type of rule in place for things like this as in both teams trade an asset but one’s asset refuses to cooperate. Now pens gave up Tomasino for nothing. Given he’s not very good this year but he’s still an asset that gets no return. Some will argue of the cap space but pens have a ton of cap space and will have tens of millions next year. Cap space want really a need.
Also weird pens wanted another D because there is a huge log jam in this organization of defenseman
Egor Zamula has now signed a 1 year $1M contract with the Blue Jackets.
