Why are you convinced Saleh is leaving? John Lynch said this 2 week ago: “You have to allow people to go chase their dreams. However we can make it very attractive for him to stay and we plan on doing that.”

They’ll give him whatever money it takes to keep him and make him the highest paid DC.

  1. I was sorta with you until the Ravens job opened up.. That is a much better situation than the other poverty franchises.

  2. Sometimes being a head coach is more attractive than a larger bag.

Whatever he does is his decision and you really can’t fault him, I just hope it all plays out after the playoffs

  3. He has aspirations to be a head coach, and I think he deserves the chance when the right job comes his way. I hope he stays, but I don’t fault him for having ambition. Just because we had some duds at DC doesn’t mean we’ll never hire another good one outside of Saleh and DeMeco Ryans. I bet Jeff Ulbrich would jump at the chance.

  4. I’d agree if John Harbaugh didn’t just get told to fuck off and now all bets are off.

  5. I think he’ll have learned to be more selective on his next organization having experienced being in the Jets. The Browns or Cardinals for example I don’t think he’ll be tempted by. The Ravens are a much better run front office on the other end of the spectrum.

  6. I believe he will only take the Ravens job were it to be offered.

2-time MVP QB, future HOF RB, a bunch of talent on defense, and a well-run organization is really, *really* tough to match up.

Saleh is a GREAT coach, and he’s already the highest paid DC in the League (or at least one of them), so money isn’t an issue. Being able to be HC of a great organization while having Lamar as your QB is too good to pass up.

  7. I don’t think he leaves for Arizona. I do think he leaves for Baltimore. Arizona is gonna end up with the other Harbaugh, I’d wager.

  8. Hope this can happen, but the Raven’s HC job officially opened now.

Does Saleh want that HC pressure? Currently, he kicks ass at his job, fans very much appreciate him, and Lynch can make the big $$$ happen. Tough to beat happiness and the right expectations.

  9. Saleh already said he wants to be a head coach again but his priority is the playoffs right now. He’s gone

  10. I hope he sees how Spags has won rings and put himself in position for a rare but possible hall of fame acceptance or at minimum being remembered as one of the best DCs for this period of time. I get the allure of being the head coach, but he can get paid top dollar and live comfortably for the foreseeable future as the head coach of Kyle’s defense.

If he does leave, the now open ravens team makes the most sense. Offensive talent is in place and if he can fix the defense he could have a lot of success in year 1.

  11. I’m not convinced he will leave but I wouldn’t be surprised. There’s a lot of openings so maybe he gets an offer. Selfishly I hope he doesn’t because I think he would take it

  12. I’m sure most coaches want to be HC. Cream of the crop is raised to the top. Money isn’t going to stop him from getting another shot at HC

  13. Yeah, but Saleh, like most NFL coaches at this level is super competitive. That’s how he’s gotten to this point in his career. I can see him wanting to captain his own ship.

  14. I don’t think he’s gonna get many serious interviews this cycle. He failed just a year ago at HC. I know this league loves retreads but usually not this soon. I think most of his interviews will be to fulfill the Rooney rule

  15. It will depend on the team. If they wabt him on the Ravens he is gone. If they want him in Arizona he will probably stay.

Going to a team with past MVP QB and a legit roster to work with is an opportunity youdo not pass on if you ever want to be a head coach.

  16. I’m worried about the Giants and the Falcons snagging him. The Ravens are going to go with an offensive coach to appease Lamar so I’m not worried about them. All the rest of the openings are complete disaster teams that he will probably avoid given this is his second time around. The Giants though with their deffensive line talent and the promising young talent they have on offense is concerning, and the Falcons have a playoff caliber roster right now if they can get a coach who isn’t a complete moron like Morris was.

  17. He wants to go be a head coach and we will
Try to convince him to stay. Int he a sense of a HC spot, we don’t have much to offer.

  18. FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF

I called it about an hour ago, I cant see him not taking the job if offered for Baltimore.

  19. If they hire Saleh and Mcdaniels ends up fired and they snag him as the OC the Ravens will be a menace.

  20. I think he’s probably leaving but if i were an owner in would never hire a defensive guy to be a head coach.

  21. Saleh last year was taking an interview with the Jags before they canned Baalke and went with Coen. That would suggest he wants to be a HC again regardless of situation. That said he was a QB away from making it work with the Jets, those guys we’re still playing hard even though Zach Wilson was struggling real bad at QB.

  22. John says a lot of stuff that sounds really good or plausible in theory to be sure. Elite feel-good media statement GM.

  23. I have such an attachment to Salah, seeing him stay even for a little while longer should be so amazing

  24. Saleh with a good OC would run nightmares in Baltimore. I don’t see him staying, as much as it pains me to say that.

  25. With hardbaugh getting fired I see him leaving. Great qb and stacked roster to run it back as HC pt2.

  26. Saleh is great but there are a TON of fantastic defensive-minded HC candidates out on the market right now. I don’t view Saleh as being the top choice by any team but even if he did leave I think we have plenty of good options to replace him including internally with Gus Bradley.

  27. We offered Dre Greenlaw the same money Denver did. He left because he wanted to captain his own defense.

I think Saleh leaves for the same exact reason.

  28. it would be such a kick in the nuts if he leaves after only one year without even a chance to coach up this new talented team one season with a healthy Warner and Bosa…

  29. “We can make it very attractive for him to stay and we plan on doing that” is not the same thing as committing whatever money it takes to keep him.

If Baltimore gives him an offer of, say, $12 million/year to be a head coach (a very plausible offer; Harbaugh was making $16 million), does anyone really think we’re matching that to keep him as a coordinator? Of course not. That’s like double the highest coordinator salary.

I have no idea what kind of salary he might command as a head coach, but it’s hardly a guarantee that the 49ers will be willing to pay enough to match it to keep him as DC.

  30. He’s absolutely going to the ravens. Happy for him, disappointed for us. Guess we just need to win the next 4 games now…

  31. I thought we had a pretty good chance of retaining him until the Ravens job opened up, but maybe they’ll surprise us and go for Stefanski.

  32. I think the Jets experience will keep Saleh in San Francisco another year. He still will want the 49ers defense humming like a double turbo V12, so he will want to stay put.

  33. He’s not going to the cardinals thats for sure. First off he doesnt know anything about baseball, second, it’s the worst job in the league right now…why would he want to spend probably his last chance as head coach on a historically awful team in the same division as the 49ers, seahawks, and rams

  34. On the ravens sub, they all want minter or kubiac. Giants will get harbaugh, no one wants anything to do with the bird bros, titans, browns. Raiders have the 1st pick and it’s an attractive job, but totally dysfunctional. Falcons would be the best fit, they have a decent team, but i think they’ll want an OC as HC to develop their QB. Let’s wait and find out.
