It says something when Hayes, LaRavia, and Nick Smith Jr are also directing Knecht/Ayton where to go. Hopefully they work on this better
If the other players have to teach the plays to the players it means the coach isn’t doing a good job explaining how to run the play to these players. Or maybe they’re too scared to ask because Reddick will call them out on the media again for not knowing a play like he did before.
They also should be practicing these plays in training. If the players doesn’t get it then the coaches should be there to show them exactly how.
This is probably why they been terrible with shot clock management. Possession after possession they do nothing for like 10-15 seconds then they have to take a contested shot. Their off ball movement has also been pretty bad literally just high screen play and nobody moves, way too easy for teams to defend.

Jax & Dalton 1-2 punch
I was expecting the yelling guy but this was a pleasant breakdown lol
Damn if only Hayes could rebound better hed be the perfect starting center for this team
how do play 4+ years in college and can’t remember simple ATOs
Damn Hayes im impressed, i think he has grown alot in these few years with the Lakers. He also has put his ego asside. Dude got benched in a playoff elimination game and got called unplayable, and he didn’t complain and got to work. Big respect for Hayes.
That’s why he needed 4 years not 1
I really really want Dalton to succeed. I really do. But he hasn’t looked like he’s belonged on the floor in a very long time. I hope he finds a way to lock back in.
Ayton has always been one of the lowest IQ centers in the league. Dalton has probably just quit on the team and dosent care anymore since the failed trade.
This is a problem with the coaching staff when so many players don’t know what they have to do on the floor. He isn’t reinforcing the plays enough or worse, he lost the role players and they are not listening to him anymore. Not a good signal in any case.
Stuff like this is why I still have faith in JJ.
FO needs to consider BBIQ in player evaluations going forward
I always wondered why teams were so afraid to draft older college players. Turns out it’s because they’re fucking dumb and can only play one way with the ball in their hands, otherwise they’re useless. Makes sense now.
Really appreciate the video
Nick Smith Jr with his hands up while both Vando and Ayton set picks next to each other, is the cherry on top.
LOL. we need to be better than that. cmon guys…
Why not teach?
Haha DA🔥
What the hell is going on during training sessions? Aren’t these plays supposed to be practiced there?
Damn that was bad
bru single-handedly raising hayes’ IQ by pushing the floor down
wtf happened to DK? dude’s head is somewhere else
Poor Dalton 🙁
Don’t know if you’re OP, but GREAT vid. If you’re not running sets correctly, you’ll get pulled. Period. Maybe the guys need more reps in practice/walkthroughs. That would be my thought if I was JJ.
I feel like everyone in this sub could benefit off watching this video lol
The video in the OP is good, but man there are a lot of really bad posts heavily upvoted in this thread. Either poor basketball knowledge, or slurs.
Great place. Well thanks OP I guess.
As someone who loves watching basketball, but never really grasped how the plays work, this guy does a great job breaking each play down to a science and shows why JJ or other players get furious a lot of the times
Good bench them
I think the problem is jj coaching style of cussing and being all fiery just ends up being tuned out. The players just look uninvested
Love your videos Daniel Li, been a YouTube subscriber for a while now
This reminds me of JJ’s podcast where he talked about drawing up plays and that players simply just “needed to watch (on the clipboard) what you’re supposed to do”. When he explained it like that, it seemed so easy to follow. JJ draws an ATO for Ayton to screen a man and he’s completely lost when the play is called? Holy.
