Tigers announcer Jason Benetti in line for top job with NBC

Anybody know what his current contract situation is with the tigers?
It would be nice to have him for the Michigan and Pistons games that end up on Peacock.
I said it on another thread, but I guess I am old school in the fact that the Detroit Tigers’ play-by-play announcer should be the announcer for all 162. I’ve tuned my radio to WJR/WXYT for decades to hear the same familiar voice, and I have to say it is upsetting when you get a fill-in on the radio because Dickerson is off doing the game on TV to cover for Benetti…
I think the guy is a fantastic announcer, but at the same time, I also feel very strongly about the role our play-by-play announcers for all our major sports play in our community and day-to-day lives.
Dan Dickerson being just as good(or better in some situations) makes his off days somewhat of a treat for me IMO
Always knew he’d be the top guy in MLB one day
Would prefer Dickerson full time. The Benetti/Dirks schtick is tiring
Kudos to him. He called minor league games in my town when he was in broadcasting school and was a regular at a restaurant I worked at. Couldn’t be a nicer guy. I’ve never followed a broadcasters career until him, but I root for this guy. I hope he gets to call WS games in the future.

I knew Benetti would only be in Detroit a short time. Gotta appreciate what time we had with him and let the bird fly, he’s meant for bigger things.
I’ll probably get downvoted to hell for this – but I don’t get the appeal of Jason. He spends way too much time making jokes and playing grabass for my tastes.
Sometimes when you love something you have to let it be free
Him and Dirks should be national.
If you love them set them free
But fr it feels selfish to limit him, the country needs baseball fred rogers
Am I the only one that finds him and dirks annoying? They’ll talk about the smallest thing for like three innings straight and think it’s the most fascinating thing on earth.
Not a fan of Benetti to much comedy in the booth drags the color commentary guy down because he’s forced to go along with him put Dickerson on the TV broadcast no one listens to the radio Dan would be awesome on TV
I don’t care fir his broadcasting. I am a Dan Dickerson fan for sure. He and Dan Petry are a great duo.
