I cannot stress how much this team lives and dies by Zach Edey. He really is our most important player by a mile
Haven’t even played much together. Just pure defensive talent.
Not sure if the bigger surprise is a Luka/Reeves lineup or a non-Brooks Suns lineup
Kinda interesting that the OKC squad with Dort and Jdub is highly rated, they’ve been losing more since they came back
It’s impossible to overstate how much defensive potential that lineup has. Like, they played enough possessions make this list but still not that many possessions together when you think about it. Like, the league average is about 117ish points per team and teams average about 47% shooting from the floor, primarily two-pointers. So you figure you get about 110 possessions per team per game.
The way that TI runs his rotations, that lineup probably played together for about 45 possessions per game across the ten full games that Edey played. Not that much at all, when you think about it. Not enough to truly have synergy on court to where they could predictably cover for one another and be able to gamble on defense and have each other’s backs, to where they could really go on autopilot.
Contrast that with OKC’s lineup that has easily played 2000+ possessions together. If ours had 500 possessions together across the games that Edey started and played significant minutes with Vince at the point, I’d be surprised. Imagine what they’d be like after playing 1000 possessions together.
The thing is that they’ll probably never get that chance to get too many more possessions together as it was strictly a function of no Ja, no SPjr, no Ty, no Javon… no nobody. As people roll back off injury, the closest we might get to that lineup is SPjr in place of Vince when Ja is out.
