[Amick] league sources say Davis’ representatives do not believe there’s an extension agreement to be had with the Mavericks in the upcoming offseason. As such, … there is a strong desire from Davis’ camp to get him traded to a destination where they feel an extension would be more likely.

  1. Zero reason to extend him considering the amount of games missed. It does not benefit the Mavs since he has multiple years left. Often injuries, aging, and years left on your contract…who in the league would extend him???

  2. Good news is that the front office isn’t dumb enough to extend him.

Bad news is that we have zero trade leverage if there is no threat of an extension in Dallas.

  3. I’m not feeling optimistic on this trade. Fuck Nico forever, set this franchise back so much

  4. Nothing against the guy but deep down everyone understands that he’s not supposed to be here.

Trade AD, Sell the Team, and then start over with Coop.

  5. I’m convinced Point Flagg is only being used to try and spoon feed AD and Gafford easier looks.

It’s working for Gafford who’s been better lately.

AD can’t hit water if he fell out of boat though. Like Jesus.

  6. I hope nobody here actually thought that Anthony Davis wants to stay with the Mavericks because he wants to plant roots and grow with the team, or that he likes the city and fanbase. He wants that dough and he’ll chase it regardless of what it does to the franchise that pays him.

  7. The way Celtics used injury prone KP should be how we use AD going forward. But they had good pieces around KP that he didn’t have to play a lot. We might be cooked until Luka comes back 😭

  8. Can’t wait to get the Pels pick. Believe. Dumber things have happened. We weren’t/aren’t the only dumb team in NBa

  9. I mean…..is there some Saudi startup league that pays washed stars?

AD is still good, when he plays. The issue is the second part of this sentence– the only way AD gets an extension is if he’s will go give up the player option and have that year + 2-3 more at say 35 million a year

  10. Go get your money, AD. Mavs have to right the ship and big money extensions to anybody on the roster this summer are not the way to do that.

  11. AD’s contract feels like that NFT that you’re stuck holding on to with no buyers with the way the discourse is going on

  12. so dumb to trade for AD if he thinks he’s getting $60M/per… i mean, no duh, but still

  13. AD has made more than $350M lifetime in the NBA, has two years left on his contract, barely plays and is demanding a max extension. The sense of entitlement is just wild to me.

  14. as much as i like AD i do think the extension was the biggest thing looming over his time here. like i don’t know how i would feel tying up that much on an aging stab who already has health issues ya know.

he’s undoubtedly great but idk i think there’s more moves that can be done instead of giving him all that money
