I don’t want Day to Davis on this team with his insane contract. Love him but let’s face reality
you cant just trade luka for AD. Dallas needs to add at least some other good player , I dont know, Christie? Maybe lakers cant try to offload some dead weight, like maxi for example?
The funniest timeline is actually the Bucks getting involved to trade him to Milwaukee where we help take on contracts with our expirings and end up with… Myles Turner.

I will always appreciate what AD’s done here but he’s not really what this roster needs and his new contract is gonna be really really bad going into his late 30’s.
Someone like AD would be perfect for Luka. Rim protection and lobs are what Luka needs most, even more then POA defense. Dallas POA defense was average at best, but they had a defensive system that funneled drivers into strong rim protectors Lively and Gafford, the former being the better defender, the latter being a decent block hunter who synergizes with Luka’s dynamic play best, though Lively is better on the roll.
Lakers aren’t getting any of these guys unfortunately which is why I said someone “like” AD
Still pains me that we never got to see Luka with the 2025 Mavericks in the playoffs.
I like to imagine there’s a reality where the Lakers re-sign AD and in the process get Cooper Flagg
Generally crazy how bad the Mavericks fucked there future up by trading us Luka and now already wanting to get rid of the center piece we gave them in that trade not even a year later.

I mean of course AD could help this squad but is he a better fit than Giannis? Nope. The whole league is waiting for Giannis to make his move. Have you noticed that not one person has been traded yet. Everyone wants a piece of a chance to get GA.
Mavs didn’t want to pay Luka, so they had Nico make the most plausible win-now trade to try and mitigate fan backlash (didnt really work). That’s why he wanted to move quietly and quickly.

I’ll gladly take Max the clamp back but AD can pound sand in Toronto for all I care. $40 milli/ year and quiet quits on us because he doesn’t prefer playing #1 for the LA Lake Show? Get off the soy my G. You had it all here man. All you had to do was be the dominant AD we paid for. You can go home and play house in the off season. What a disappointment.
AD’s contract is a nightmare and would completely void any chance for the Lakers to do anything significant next summer to improve the team.
I’d rather stick with Ayton and I don’t think that with AD’s rim protection the Lakers defense would suddenly become elite.
Get him after the buyout
He can comeback on a vet minimum, injury prone, demands a high salary. I love AD, but it’s the reality
It would take a good chunk of our roster to make the finances work. Rui, Vando, Gabe, Maxi, Dalton for AD & Exum. Can’t see that happening
