  1. I like the trade but it needs to be followed by some actual spending. There’s no reason we cant spend on a guy

  2. I like the trade a ton. Finally a pitcher with heat and it changes the whole staff. In Jed we trust!!!

  3. You did not nuke your prospect capital that much and got you a young guy with control. The bargain bin merchant strikes again. I can’t say I hate this even if we gave up some good prospects. We also avoided trading Jonathan Long. That is a big win.

  4. Not too bad! This is much needed. Now just have to secure another bat for when we lose Tucker

  5. I’d feel much better about this trade if they bring back Tucker or sign Bregman. It’s a lot to pay for Cabrera and feels like having to give up top prospects because ownership is cheap.

  6. Well this means they HAVE to get tucker or a similar caliber OF bat. I just don’t believe they would get rid of caissie without a backup

  7. So what’s the plan for RF? It can’t be Suzuki. How does Bichette/Bregman fit in with rumors. Will it be Belli? Tucker if his market somehow tanks?

  8. Sucks losing cassie with the cubs most likely needing a lefty outfielder in the next few years, but overall you can’t hate this. We can figure out the outfield when that time comes and have added a significant piece to the rotation that’s under control until 2028.

  9. I’m not happy about trading ONKC at all. Was super high on him and with Happ/Suzuki FAs after this year thought he was gonna be next up.

But a rotation led by Horton Wiggins and Cabrera for the next half decade will be great too

  10. Not a bad group to send out. Hernandez hasn’t made great progress, and the team is fine with infield depth over the next several years. Even if Hoerner leaves, the likes of Triantos and Rojas would be ahead of Hernandez. Caissie’s kind of a tough loss, but completely reasonable for 3 years of control for a pitchers with more upside than most of the tea’s depth guys.

Here’s to hoping Cabrera can get healthy and the walks come down. He’s got the arm talent this team lacks, but has to be on the mound to work it out. At worst, Caissie is a bit redundant with Alcantara, and we don’t have to worry that the team would completely cheap out and have Happ+Suzuki leave to play Caissie+Alcantara at the corners next season.

  11. Good deal. Now go get a legit proven bat that will get this lineup back to first half ‘25 levels.

  12. Excellent trade. We have a solid front 6 starting pitching now. 7 if you count Rea.

Now go get another big bat and that’s a team that could win a championship.

  13. I think this has the potential to be a really good deal for both sides. Gonna suck to see Caissie (potentially) realize his potential elsewhere, but something had to give eventually. I wish him absolutely nothing but the best.

Stoked to see Cabrera in blue. Especially for a very fair trade.

  14. I’m just sad because I saw Cassie in AA and he signed a ball for my daughter, wanted him to be a great Cub!
