It’s a *lot* easier to go from abysmal to bad than it is to go from bad to average.

Watching this team for the last decades made me want to jump off a cliff
I’ve been saying for two years that their target window is 2027 or ‘28. If they can make another 8-10 win jump this season, that will be a huge step in the right direction. Then, you have a clean payroll minus Trout and whatever is owed to Rendon. Pitching prospects should be MLB ready and guys like Neto, O’Hoppe, Schanuel, and Soriano are hopefully entering their prime.

I mean he’s not technically wrong but there’s alot this club needs. They’re constantly one injury away from the team’s production falling off a cliff whether it’s on the mound or at the plate or even defensively
With what improvements? We lost our biggest run producer and closer, yet have only added one fragile SP and a couple reclamation project relievers.
Why is this dude running a victory lap on improving from our worst record in team history (in which we had big injuries mixed with losing our best player in both hitting and pitching with absolutely no backup), to having our 4th worst record since the year 2000?
I get you can tout “omg Perry is an elite team builder he has added 9 wins in 1 year”, but the fact of the matter is our team was absolutely ass in 2024 and should be a shoe-in to have an improved record just due to the fact you’re adding in trout.
But as he always does, he never explains WHY he thinks the way he thinks.
We are losing 2.7 WAR in ward, 2.0 WAR in TA, 1.7 WAR in Hendricks, 2.4 WAR in Jansen, 0.7 WAR in moncada, …these were everyday players for us. Where is he getting the production replacement for all of this? What happens if GRod is still nursing an injury and slow to come back? What happens if his 20 declining players don’t return to their mid 2010s form? What happens if all these “young core” players continue to middle in the 1-2 WAR range?
I just don’t see any actual plan for this team beyond “we have to have some good luck sometime…right?” And Perry doesn’t provide any actual substantive explanations and just goes “…trust me bro I am good at this, the last 5 years doesnt matter!”
Pretty insane thing to say when this team went from hovering around 500 to 90 losses. Horrible back half of the season. Trending downwards
until they have a robust and built out farm system — i feel like the angels will always be one of those middling teams who occassionally sneaks into the postseason because they got hot.

I was shocked we got to 72 wins last year, and this team is definitely in worse shape then last years, might be the first year we get to 100 losses sadly

Lololol based on what? Alex Manoah and Kirby Yates? If you look at run differential last year, they should have fared about the same as 2023, and I think this team is even worse.

Perry is crazy. Is it an improvement if we win a few games more. If he expects more then he is going to have to add more. No more garbage pieces that no other teams want or players that used to be good. Our bullpen is a little better but as a fan don’t expect greatness. I doubt that we will get a CF, 3B or even another starter. U til those moves happen mediocrity is all we can hope for. Maybe 3rd in the division. I love the Angels. But this continued crap that they put on the field speaks volumes. If they wanted to show us fans that they are going to be better then they need to back up their talk.
