I'd say at bare minimum a high 3's era. I think he'll hover around the 3.20-3.50 ERA mark, and put up about a 9 K/9.

  1. Should we expect a 2.50 ERA? No. But Imai is very talented and has the potential to be the #2 starter we desperately needed. This rotation has so much upside, just needs to stay healthy.

  2. I know the reasoning behind 45. However, when I do buy the jersey I will also be happy to be wearing Jordans number when he came back from playing baseball.

  3. 0 ERA. Ks every single batter. World Series MVP after throwing 4 straight perfect games.

  4. Every picture I’ve seen him in he’s been throwing up his Hs. He’s already got purp in his veins.

  5. Let’s just say they’re renaming the Cy Young Award next season to the Tatsuya Imai Award

  6. I’m kind of bracing myself for a slow start. He’s coming into a new league, so only natural to expect an adjustment period. Even Yamamoto’s first game was rough, giving up 5 earned in just one inning of work.

Realistically, he may have some command issues. That has always been the knock on him. He’ll get alot of K’s, but he will throw alot of 4-seamers and some will be hit out. I could see him not being a very efficient pitcher, lasting only 5-6 innings, while giving up 2-3 runs.

  7. Gimme ~170 innings with an era sub 4 and im ecstatic.

But even 150 innings would be sweet.

  8. I expect a decent 2nd or 3rd starter-ish kind of production and then an opt out for a longer deal probably on another team 🙁

  9. I’m just hoping for stability in the rotation. Even if he comes in as the #2/#3 starter, I’d be more than happy…
