Going rate is too dammm high.
Price of pitching is high. So if we are going to trade for a guy under control, I’m happy it isn’t for a Cabrera type. I’d prefer a guy who’s still more proven and less injury prone. I know we gotta give to get, but this is a HAUL for Miami. And you can assume we would have had to pay the “division tax” and give up more. Solid addition for sure would have loved to have him but again that’s a steeep price to pay for a guy of his caliber
Though after the Shane Baz trade we shouldn’t have expected any less from this current market.

Doesn’t Cabrera have 11 IL stints?? That’s a crazy price for a pitcher that can’t seem to stay healthy.
Feels like a lot. Cabrera could easily make the cubs look like geniuses for making the trade but it could swing the other way easily. Don’t think this dude was ever gonna be a Met so I’m just kinda fascinated how it works out.
Probably prefer him out of the division than in it but Caissie could make me eat my words in a few years.

Yeeesh, Cabrera is good but that feels pretty steep. Ive watched Cassie play alot out here in Des Moines. I get that he strikes out alot, but the dude absolutely mashes when he connects. He certainly passes the eye test, imo.
Guess I’m in the minority that feels this is a little on the light side.
I think the Mets being successful against Cabrera has people a little low on him here.
But this guy has a high ceiling and 3 years of control.

Caissie might not even crack our top 5. McLean, Tong, Benge are comfortably better than he is. Reimer and Jett would be his closest comparables as far as “value” goes and even then FanGraphs and BP have been way higher on them.

Traded their #1, #11 and a lower unranked level. Cassie is #47 on the top 100. Jonah Tong is #46 for comparison.
