A 3 or 5 game losing streak is what the Flames have needed.
I love the effort the Flames played with for the last few months, and the belief they have shown in themselves, but we’re hitting the point in the season where hard decisions need to be made. In most cases these kind of hard decisions are easier when the direction of the team is more clear. Approaching the trade deadline as a bottom 5 team in the league, and as a bottom 3 team in the west, likely makes it impossible to complain about trading away a couple players.
The only thing that would make this better is if some of the playoff teams really started to assert themselves. A 3 to 5 game winning streak from a few bubble teams would have a similarly positive impact.
