If Perry’s job annoys him this much, why doesn’t he just quit?

  1. Why does Perry think he’s earned the benefit of the doubt? He’s never built a winning team, but acts like the fans and the media are the idiots.

  2. Miserable fans, miserable players, miserable GM, miserable owner, miserable reporters, and just an overall miserable atmosphere surrounding this team.

It’s such a toxic environment that’s resulted in seeing fans of the team at each others throats everyday when you log onto Reddit, Twitter, Instagram, etc.

  3. Doesn’t the players union not allow present value of a contract to change? So I assume the team is paying interest on any deferred money.

  4. I mean yeah, his answers do sound condescending. But he is right in a sense. Everyone knows Rendon isn’t gonna play, that’s the value aspect. Time and money are the things being spread out

  5. I’m not exactly in the “dumb question” camp, but whenever there is a weird Perry answer/statement, 90% of the time its Sam asking the question. Of course Perry should be the Pro and just say something like “we invest the money elsewhere”, but clearly he doesn’t like Sam and his style of questions.

  6. Isn’t it “the time value *of* money”? Condescendingly repeating the wrong phrase isn’t a good look. I think I prefer Craig Breslow (another GM notably bad at this kind of communication)’s airhead corpo-speak to this.

  7. Not defending Perry, but I do have a bit of compassion for him due to the fact that he’s been so heavily bogged down by a contract for a player he didn’t even sign. It’d be like becoming a manager for a company and your boss tells you that you have to deal with an asshole who will do zero work, take up almost 20% of your payroll, and serve up generally bad vibes.
