  1. Absolutely incredible article, even if he got help writing it hes a damn good storyteller.

I will stand by my belief that legalizing sports betting is the worst thing to ever happen to professional sports and its athletes

  2. That was a good read!

Awesome to see KB turn it around after a down rookie year. I hope he stays around.

  3. Wow surprised to read he almost gave up in his rookie year. That would’ve meant Drake’s first TD ever against the Texans last year wouldn’t have happened – or just be less impressive.

I remember that was the first play where I thought Maye could be really special – and tbh Boutte has grown a lot since then too. Glad he stayed.

  4. This is an excellent break from the tired MVP stuff. He really bared his heart and that is rare.

  5. Can we make boutte a forever pat at this point. God damn i love him even if he doesnt put ip the craziest of stats

  6. Damn, that was amazing. Who tf is cutting onions in here??

    > One day during training camp, we were sitting in a meeting, and I just got up and left. I walked straight out the building. I told our GM that I was done with football. I didn’t want to play anymore.

Damn, man, crazy to think Boutte basically walked out on the team and we never heard about it even through all the dysfunction over the past couple years. What a success story

  7. Glad hes on our team! Glad he overcame his gambling addiction. All my coworkers gamble on the apps and they all think Im weird for not doing it. I dont wanna go down that rabbit hole. Glad others out there think its bad for society.

  8. Wow!!! I’m flabbergasted by the maturity of Boutte, just WOW!

Please read the article if you have not, I’m making sure my sons read it. Great lessons in there, and it makes me think of how many young lives are being ruined by Draft Kings and MGM.

It’s unbelievable how much of a change has occurred with him, a testament to his growth as a man.

I just have to say I fucking love this team.

  9. I’m so happy with the leap Boutte has made this year. It really took the whole organization to level up to improve to 14-3. We have been desperate for a WR to hit in the draft and I think Boutte has emerged as a legitimate wideout for us.

  10. He’s become a really solid player. If they’re going to make a serious run this postseason, they’re going to need him to continue playing as well as he has all year. And stay healthy.

  11. man what a great read. I love KB. Misunderstood and flawed but look what he turned himself into. The hard work and the courage to keep on going has earned himself a spot on this team and turned himself into a good player. Proud of him. Keep going KB!!!

  12. Wow, that was a great article and his honesty was deeply moving. It’s been so enjoyable watching Boutte grow as a player and a person these past few years. His career is still young but it would be so cool if he became another of many beloved Patriot players by the time his career ends.

  13. This article sheds A LOT of light on his inconsistency and injuries. First; that ankle injury was way worse than people were letting on. And second, he didn’t take that first rehab seriously which is why that injury lingered and took years to get right. Because of that, I don’t think he’ll ever get back to that LSU explosion, but I think he can still be a very solid #3 option on any ball team. The last point which might be the most important, the mental part of his game has only just come back online, and that’s why we’re seeing this production.

Fuck legalised sports gambling and fuck these fucking apps bro, it’s genuinely destroying an entire generation of young men.

Props to Boutte for overcoming it, I hope he stays clear of it the rest of his life post career etc.

  14. Great article, I love these player’s tribune pieces.

    Couple of thoughts.

Im a little worried about the guy when the football career, always shorter than you expect, ends. It sounds like a few times not just football but healthy, winning football has been the only thing keeping him steady. Hope his family and amateur sports can be that for him when his pro career ends.

Vrabes just sounds like an awesome coach, from a football and player perspective. Belichick had an awesome football mind and no doubt was a huge part of the Pats success, but he always comes off pretty cold, cutthroat, and business-only in these player testimonials.

I wonder if him and Ridley have been in touch at all, with the gambling history. Hell, you could probably have a whole NFL player support group for gambling. Maybe there is one.

  15. Lord knows I’m not a Pat’s fan but that’s a really well written article and worth reading. Hopefully it helps some people.

  16. As a guy who had a front row seat to a family member, who was a standout athlete and was getting post HS opportunities starting in his sophomore year, do a damn fine job of burning his life to the ground due yo addiction issues this article really hit home.

    Stay the course Kayshon.
