With the news that Canucks didn't even meet NHL quotas for health staff, and seeing there's only a couple of doctors listed on the NHL website for Canucks medical staff…

Other teams have full physiotherapy teams, on top analytical teams, on top of sleep and therapy and sports therapy teams… (Canadiens are a stark comparison example)

I don't see how these aren't an absolute given in the NHL and part of being some bare minimum required. Our players seem to never be recovering properly, and almost every injury case so far has been prolonged, and seemingly not a full or proper recovery.

We won't keep any substantial skill if this keeps up. Lets be real. No practice facility, and a skeleton crew medical team?

I get the Aquilinis are notorious for running their businesses like this, but WTF is going on here?

Recent points made:

Compare these two staff teams;

Here's the article about how in previous seasons, we DID NOT meet the medical staff requirements:

  1. So we did not meet the minimum quota for staff? I didn’t see this.

If this is true it wouldn’t suprise me why we have one of if not the most lost man games to injury.
There always seems to be some rumblings about that medical staff not up to par.

We do have too many injuries coming right out of training camp. That tells me they are not being prepped properly. But thats just me. Idk.

  2. The team has a really good benefits plan through Sunlife. $1000 for physio, RMT, etc. Only a $25 deductible on the first claim each year. The dental plan could be a little better considering it’s a hockey team.

  3. Does it really surprise anyone that Aqualooney cheaps out on the medical team? This guy is absolutely the worst owner in the NHL.

  4. Why does this surprise you??? The Aquilinis operate a blueberry farm worked by imported slaves who are: “denied water while working in the fields … made to work in refrigerated areas of the property without warm clothing, and … housed in crowded, unsanitary conditions.”

  5. We are a cheap franchise that JR was supposed top fix but didn’t. Other than hiring 20 assistant GM’s.

  6. This is a recurring situation. Tanner Pearson’s injury and mis-diagnosis led to a lot of unnecessary man games lost. The players, especially Hughes, complained bitterly.

  7. Nothing will change until you stop putting money in Aquilinni’s pocket. It is the only thing he understands. It is obvious he has no shame or pride.

  8. Hm wow, when I worked there not too long ago they had IIRC 3 offices with multiple massage and phyisotherapists for their medical. Maybe they don’t fully list their staff? They even have student RMT and physio students come in every once in a while

  9. It’s wild how tight with a buck the Blueberry POS is. It’s a joke really.

He reminds me of Peter Pocklington.

  10. People have moved on all over this organization and a chunk of those positions remain vacant even to this day,  it’s really fucked up and ownership should be ashamed

  11. I can’t wait for the day that there’s so many complaints that the NHL takes the team away from aqua, or makes him sell it due to players being in danger

  12. I work in sports rehabilitation, and I can say with full confidence that the Canucks organization is pretty widely known to be cheap and terrible in this department. I have personally known members staffed over the years by the Canucks that I wouldn’t have trusted with any sort of sports team. We’re talking bad reputation or completely green therapists in crucial roles…

  13. Absolutely, the Canucks are lacking in the medical team, which is concerning with our history of injuries, but they do have a physiotherapy and analytics team. The team page just has multiple pages for the entire team; it’s all under the team dropdown, while Montreal has the entire staff listed on one page.

I could’t find the analytics performance team, but it should exist since the province wrote an article comparing our analytics department to other teams, which also lists Aiden Fox as the head of that department. His Linkedin says he is still with the team.

  14. Med team had access to several technologies during Demko’s first injury. Those techs sold and implemented were not used/under used or used incorrectly according to the sale reps who sold them.
