But honestly, you really think he would take an OC job in Pittsburgh? No QB1 signed for next season, and other than DK Metcalf, you basically have second-tier talent at every skill position on offense. Surely other teams are more appealing to him.
He would probably only take the job if Pittsburgh lets him pick a QB next year in the draft and Mike Tomlin gives him full control over the offense (which he likely would).

We had a better scoring offense than Miami.
In case some of you don’t know, personnel are brought in to match a head coach’s and a coordinators system. Thats why we have so many tight ends and why we’ve been going for big dudes at all offensive positions, so we can run the ball effectively and block downfield.
If we brought in McDaniels we would have to retool a lot of that or he would have to retool his Miami offense to work with the personnel we have.
It’s not as simple as we get good coordinator and good things happen. The offensive players have to match his style.
If this doesn’t sound like a big deal, here’s a better example. If you get a DC that wants to play a 4-3 front instead of the 3-4 the Steeler use (most often), the type of defenders in the interior d-line changes from a giant nose tackle to two defensive tackles. Those are completely different body types and skill sets and most players can’t do both.
So if Artie leaves (and I really hope he doesn’t because we are a few players away from making his offense soar), we probably wouldn’t even go after a guy like McDaniel because our offensive personnel are built differently than the system he uses.
