If Spags gets hired as a head coach to another team. What do you think of this combo? Mike McDaniels OC and Raheem Morris as DC

  1. If spags were to leave don’t be surprised if Dave Merritt (current DBs coach) is the guy who gets the nod at DC.

Though I would not be upset at this OC/DC pairing.

  2. I think it would be great as long as Andy would give up some of the playcalling duties and be open to McDaniels’ ideas/suggestions.

  3. Mike McDaniel has been my dream OC (and eventual successor HC) for about a month or two now. Hoping Spags doesn’t leave, figured he was too old for a third stint at HC. Raheem would be a good DC for us if Spags were to leave

  4. Mike McDaniel did have some great ideas for Miami’s offense when he was hired as HC and it was good for a bit. But do you think MM would come in and allow his thoughts on the offense to be suppressed by having to run Andy’s offense, possibly without input being accepted. I dunno. We are probably gonna hire an OC that is a puppet until Andy retires. You can downvote me but it’s true.

    I want Spags to stay!!

  5. I want McDaniels to join us… well, two seasons ago, but this spring would be good too.

  6. Morris as our DC would be better than going up against his Defensive units… Lately, he’s had our number.

McDaniels as an OC… could be interesting. Or could suck. He’s a dynamic play caller, but I’m concerned he might not pan out here because Andy doesn’t want to hand over the offensive play calls. Also, it seems that when he gets overmatched, he tends to panic. Which in turn causes risks/turnovers. Just IMO.

With that. I would see him going to a place like the Ravens.

If this is what we ended up with… I’d be fine with it.

Honestly, though, I’m one of those fans who lately hasn’t been a fan of Spags, because our defensive scheme/players can’t get off the field on 3rd down… and we have no pass rush.

    We need a pass rush.

We need to get stops on 3rd down & get the ball back to Patty.

We also need playmakers who catch the ball on offense.

  7. Need a guy who can tell Andy no when he needs to, and can instill discipline onto the team.

  8. Not going to happen. Unless they plan on giving mcdaniels the head coaching job after Andy.

  9. They need to get the best OC! Those last few games just showed we are shit without Pat. We couldn’t even limp along for the rest of the season. We also now have a chance to find a bomb ass WR coach. I’m guessing the Rice situation is only gonna keep getting worse. Like shit!! No one man or woman deserves to be treated like that period.

  10. Andy Reid is the ultimate NFL alpha male. He is THE BIG FISH in the NFL coaching pond. Now that Belichick is gone, it’s Reid and nobody else even close to his accolades and respect.

With that said, Andy calls the plays. Andy hires from his tree. And Andy takes a back seat to nobody in the NFL. I would be thoroughly shocked if Andy hired a whiz kid from outside his coaching tree to design a new offense.

No. Whoever Andy hires as OC will be an Andy Reid yes man.

It’s just the way it is.

  11. I like the idea of getting mcdaniels but it seems like a very long shot…teams will be lining up to get him and for us to get him big red would probably have to make concessions…EB/kliff/kafka/other seems way more likely

  12. I think the offense needs someone who can kick em in the ass and kick em into gear every once in a while and idk if McDaniels is it. That being said, I think he would bring some great ideas to the table for us

  13. Cool idea but I think it’s basically a lock that McDaniel is gonna the commanders oc unless someone wants to give him another shot as a head coach.

  14. I would be ecstatic for McDaniels to be OC. I think he’s a case of “good to great OC, bad HC”. Would prefer to keep spags for as long as he wants to be here though.

  15. Damn, you think McDaniel did a bad enough job he has to step down to OC for real? Even rather than sitting out a HC cycle?

  16. I don’t see McDaniel as a fit. His vibe doesn’t seem like it would go over well in KC.

  17. I really don’t understand what everyone sees in Mike McDaniel. He never seems to have the locker room behind him, and he never seems confident in his own thoughts based on press conferences, hard knocks, etc. Perhaps he was handed a tough job in Miami, but he seems quite unproven. One year of OC experience in SF under Kyle Shanahan doesn’t really prove he will be amazing at OC or HC, it was a good year for sure but tiny sample size.

  18. I like Mike McDaniel but I struggle seeing him and Andy Reid as a good pairing and I’m not convinced he’d bring the discipline our offense seems to need.

  19. I’m thinking there are 7 HC positions open and not 7 candidates, so we won’t be getting to former HCs as coordinators.

  20. I think off-season fan casting of coaches and players amuses me every year, especially the mockups of people wearing Chiefs uniforms or sideline gear.

  21. First, if Spags wants to stay he stays. However if he gets offered a HC job I think he takes it cause he ain’t getting any younger. I doubt McDaniels takes a job as a OC especially one that doesn’t call the plays. I wouldn’t be against Morris as DC. He seems to know how to make a tough defensive unit.
