  1. >Sources told DallasHoopsJournal.com there is internal interest in extension concepts for C.J. McCollum with the Atlanta Hawks, centered on a potential one-year deal for an estimated $20 million. Such a concept is viewed internally as a short-term bridge that preserves cap flexibility while allowing Atlanta to remain competitive. McCollum, 34, has averaged 18.8 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 3.6 assists this season, production Atlanta views as reflective of his ability to remain aggressive as a scorer while providing steady ball-handling alongside the current core.

    >For Atlanta, McCollum’s arrival is viewed as a functional on-court complement for the short-term future. Sources told DallasHoopsJournal.com that the Hawks see McCollum as another ball-handling option who can be aggressive as a scorer while fitting alongside their current core. Atlanta values McCollum’s ability to operate both on and off the ball, providing lineup flexibility and secondary creation without requiring the offense to be fully reoriented.

    >Sources also indicate to DallasHoopsJournal.com that it appears unlikely for Atlanta to succeed in a midseason trade for Anthony Davis at this stage. Barring a shift in willingness to include more value in a trade package, Atlanta is not believed to be an imminent trade possibility. League sources describe the Hawks’ current posture as measured relating to the possibility of acquiring 32-year-old Davis, who is eligible for a contract extension in August. Atlanta has two key assets that the front office lacks interest in parting with, including recent No. 1 overall pick Zaccharie Risacher and the 2026 first-round pick swap that could land the New Orleans Pelicans’ selection.

    >Young being traded this early before the Feb. 5 midseason deadline does help the financial landscape for the Hawks to make a significant midseason trade acquisition. However, acquiring a star player before the deadline would impact the financial flexibility the team could benefit from having after knowing who they will select in the 2026 NBA Draft, as they continue to build around Johnson.

  2. I mean I wouldn’t hate it .. that’s the going rate for any above average player in today’s league .. especially a high level scoring 6th man , makes sense to wanna keep a efficient on/off ball scorer around .. just don’t let him hijack the offense like he’s prone to do at times

  3. I’m fine with this. Not the biggest fan of taking on AD with his contract (player option is $62 million). I definitely would’ve liked at least a pick for Trae, but I do like the added depth we now have. We do still need a center, and I would really like if we pursued Zubac

  4. I actually like extending CJ, not that I am super high on him as a player but if it’s a 1 year deal then we basically get a salary chip that’s 40% the size of what Trae should have been.

  5. Honestly at this point if KP has to be included to get AD I’m probably out.  Especially if it takes more than the Cavs pick + some 2nds.

If we just roll out CJ and Kispert we’re obviously going to be better than the Trae-less version of the team this season.  We’re just going to continue to get gashed on the interior all season.  We need to pull an NBA rotation level center out of our ass somehow or else it’s going to be tough to watch.

  6. Yeah i don’t fucking have a clue what we’re doing, but let’s ride

And is this account credible? Dallashoopsjournal?

  7. Majority of this us didn’t want AD anyways but we still need a reliable center

  8. Combined with that post about him mentoring Peterson earlier, I think this gives me a pretty solid guess on who we want from the draft

  9. I would love this. I really think he’s going to help us a lot more than most think

Also that last line? Thank the lord
