Giants viewed Imai as a back end starter.

When interviewing pitching coach candidates, getting Birdsong back on track was a huge topic of discussion.

  1. pavs carries so much water for these clowns, twists every fact to make it sound like we had a solid offseason…dude is garbage

  2. Our offseason:

Vitello (btw what even is our coaching staff?)

2 relievers coming of injuries – reclamation projects

2 starters, one injury prone, other mid – reclamation projects

    2 OFers we already cut

    Some trip to Korea

    We are so back

  3. How about everyone stop being toxic? Let’s see how things shake out. This is baseball. Anything can happen.

  4. So the warriors front office wants to waste curry’s final years and the giants are ran by fucking clowns? What happened to the Bay Area sports I used to love so much.

  5. “One of the major goals in Vitello’s first season is to improve what was an awful defensive outfield in 2025.” And to help the outfield, we’ve done what exactly?

  6. Honestly, in a sadistic way it is kind of fun to ride the roller coaster all year as they navigate to a .500 record. ‘Oh wow, they’re 10 games above .500!!!’. ‘Oh wow, they’re 9 games under .500!!’. But at the end of the year we know they’ll be nestled comfortably into the .500 range. Fun right? But hey guys, a Giants player finally hit 30 HRs for the first time since dial up internet was king!

  7. I think people severely underestimate how much better the team is on paper than it was last year. We have a whole season of Devers, Adames won’t have his new team funk, JHL not coming off an injury, Bryce Eldridge most likely playing every day, no Wilmer Flores running slow on the basepaths.

They’re not expecting the new pitchers to have all star years, and they’re likely just placeholders for guys like Tidwell, Birdsong with fixed control, Whisenhunt with higher velocity etc. Even Trevor McDonald having good starts at the end of the ‘25 season is something to look forward to this year. I just think people have these unrealistic expectations and think buying a theatre has anything to do with the baseball side of the team. People are even complaining about a trip to South Korea to inspire some high school kids and people in SK to support our team.

This team honestly just needs someone like Harrison Bader in CF, move JHL to RF, and sign another relief pitcher and we are good to go. And we still have over a month to make moves before pitchers and catchers report.

  8. What the hell was the point of trading for Devers and hiring Vitello if the FO is content to run it back with a .500 team?

This is why they should’ve signed Imai. $60MM would’ve gone a long way just for the PR alone

  9. That’s cool but they’re not doing either of those things. Rotation and bullpen are still garbage.

  10. so are there anyhopes for JV coming back or Scherezer joining to make a reunion with his college pitching coach on one year old man deals?

  11. We got gaps. Side note Willy Adames is going to have a huge year this season. Hes got too much good energy to not have a career year.

  12. Instead of spending 3-4 k on giants games parking and stuff. I’m going to keep it in my bank so I don’t have a gap in my pay roll

  13. Love all the front office apologists downvoting the comments. If we don’t demand more from our team, they will keep taking our money and not giving us anything for it

  14. Can’t wait for the Curran Theater to pitch after the rotation and bullpen predictably fall apart in June.

  15. Fill in gaps…then our stars are going to walk to a team that actually cares about contending…what then? The holes will get bigger. What’s going to motivate what little we got in the farm? I used to be jealous of the Dodgers but the Giants are making it hard for me to care anymore.

  16. If I were the Giants FO… so, right now this team has a big, blue problem in the Dodgers. They’re a super-team, plain and simple. And they’re in the way no matter how you slice it – the division lead, or somewhere along the way in the playoffs.

Looking at the FA class this offseason…were there any players who could elevate the Giants to be on the super-team level as the Dodgers. Honestly…no. Sure, you can improve, absolutely, but pushing the Giants over that big blue hump? Nah.

So I would definitely play it conservately at least for now. Yeah, make the team better, absolutely. Win as much as possible, and you never know what might happen. But trying to make big moves with a FA class that isn’t gonna put on you the same level as the blue monster? I’d probably play things cool for now.

  17. and u/krustybrandthoughts is looking to fill the gaps in his baseball season schedule with anything but watching this team
