The Mets have the best pitching development system in baseball, says player development analyst @LanceBroz Lance Brozdowski . “They know what they’re doing on the personnel side, and they’ve combined that with a couple of years of really good development in the minors.”

  1. It’s nice to no longer be looking at pitching prospects like Vasil, Hamel, Stuart, etc. and hoping they might be developing a 4-5 starter

Obviously all these guys aren’t gonna work out but the real upside and quality of pitches the current crop throw means they might be developing some real talent

  2. I’m really hoping some of our pitching prospects pan out. Nothing better than a homegrown ace! Even some 2-3 starters would be a gigantic win.

  3. Pitching lab really crushed it last year. “It” being our hope of making the playoffs.

  4. All due respect to Hefner but hopefully they show some improvements at the ML level this year as well. High hopes for the young guys coming up but part of the reason a team like the Dodgers is so successful is because they bring in unheralded arms and maximize their potential.

  5. This stuff is part of why it’s such an exciting time to be a Mets fan. You can see the changes that our farm system has gone through in such a short time and it led to McLean and Tong shooting up last year well ahead of schedule. Thrilled to see more development from guys like Wenninger and Watson, and hoping Tong can get a third pitch that he can use to introduce any east-west movement.

  6. 2027 could be a great year for this young pitching staff. 2026, honestly, could be too. The Mets have eight guys, right now, who can be above-average Major League starters.

Unfortunately, at least half of them may be below-average in 2026, and none of them are likely to give you 30+ starts next year.

My guess is that the Mets get an anchor to this staff before we get to spring — and that’s huge.

  7. I’m not a Stearns apologist, but I do think we have the right guy at the helm. I totally understand being frustrated with decisions made at the MLB level, but he’s building up the organization as a whole and not just the MLB level. While some people might not want to hear it that requires patience.

  8. Just ready to see this all play out. So tired of the talking and the hopeful seasons. We had the same talk with a solid core yet couldn’t even make the playoffs last year. Enough of the future and more of NOW.

  9. Wtf does this fetus of a podcaster know about pitching development?

Stearns is judging it strictly based on how hot their girlfriends are.

  10. It’s funny seeing people talk nonsense about Stearns and experts say stuff like this

  11. For those calling him a child, Brozdowski is a legit analyst who’s got a lot more in depth ball knowledge than a lot of the ‘analysts’ on major networks. He’s employed by Marquee network (Cubs TV provider) and is regularly featured on their pre and post game programs. He’s also been a guest on the Metsd Up pod multiple times and knows our org fairly well.

  12. That’s funny, this fanbase tells me Stearns is an idiot and has no idea what he’s doing.

  13. I’ve never seen the system look this good. I only go back to the 90’s, so maybe the early 80’s system looked like this.
