There goes Blough

  1. This makes McDaniel more possible. He an Dan Quinn had a good relationship and it was thought that he could possibly go there

  2. Apparently it wasn’t such a catastrophic interview request as many on this forum thought.

  3. You guys all would have melted down if we hired him. So to say “there goes Blough”, is a stretch.

  4. I’m guessing Brunell is just not interested in the OC job, was kind of surprised to not hear anything about him regarding the opening.

  5. If McDaniel doesn’t land a HC job, we have arguably the top OC job available now and Washington was a big threat due to his relationship with Quinn. You could also argue for Baltimore having the best OC job depending on their HC- it’s possible they will hire an offense-focused HC that does the play calling.

  6. I’m trying to assure McDaniel coming here by saying I don’t think he’s coming here. The universe loves proving me wrong.

  7. Prediction: Same people saying it was too early will now call out Dan and Brad for not moving fast enough.

  8. Happy for him but I’m glad Detroit didn’t sign him. The Lions OC is a desirable job now with top tier talent at all skill positions and a top 10ish QB. We don’t need to give the keys to a Ferrari to someone that just got their license. Especially after Johnny and Dan doing a questionable job this past season (yes, Dan also didn’t call great games).

The front office and Dan absolutely need to prioritize McDaniel imo. I imagine he is getting HC calls but his run scheme would fit perfectly and he also likes to draw up crossers and go routes down field. Imagine Gibbs in the Achane role, Williams in the Hill role, and St. Brown in the Waddle role….

  9. that leaves the lions has the only logical oc job for mikey, either that or hc of a poverty franchise

  10. I feel so vindicated in defending him being a good candidate now that every coach he’s been around as more than a practice squad guy has either promoted him to OC or tried to interview him for OC
