We are so cooked
Well that explains why he’s been emo
Yep – already got people sending me shit in my texts…
Hate to say it. But… fuck yeah.
I’m as big of a Ja defender as anyone here but as an organization, we do need to hear out offers. That doesn’t mean you just dump him like Atlanta did because he has more value to us as a franchise than anywhere else but you have to at least *hear* what teams are willing to do.
Ideally he’d play 75+ games and be our MVP but that’s just not a reality anymore. We’re gonna be lucky if he ever plays more than 50 a season at this point.
Again, I’m not wanting to move him but I’m not against listening.
I mean no surprise really, whatever we get back for him will be disgustingly low but what option do we have left at this point. He barely plays and is a big chunk of our cap.
I’m ready to move on but it’ll look closer to a salary dump than anything else. My favorite player of all time still. But the best decision for this franchise
really hope we get Edey back for Europe, im probably crazy but i genuinely think the two of them healthy takes us to a different level and stops all this trade talk
fuck
I would be alright moving forward with Cedric, Jaren, and Zach as our core to be honest. I love Ja, but things have been really tough for a long time with him now. I believe in him as a talent, I just don’t know how much we can sit around and wait on him as an org.
🙁
The Ja era has been great but it’s gotten stagnant and feels like it’s going nowhere. If he’s traded it’s going to suck but honestly it will be for the best. No matter what though, Ja should always be held in the hearts of all Grizzlies fans despite the fact it was a rocky journey from start to finish.
Its worth hearing out. Sucks to hear, but if he cant stay on the floor and produce it makes sense.
However, dont move any assets to get off his contract. Id thats the only way to move off, might as well keep him.
Im not a fan of moving off a, for all his faults, beloved player while his value is so low.
I mean, it might be true, but the “sources tell ESPN” thing doesn’t scream credibility to me.
I’ve seen too many articles and posts where sources say things like “if they’re thinking about trading him, they’d definitely do it before the deadline” under a headline like this.
If I have to see this dude become the old Ja and ball out on a media darling team I might just lose my mind.
As a person from Michigan and currently living in Chicago, Ja is what initially pulled me into Memphis basketball his rookie year. He played an exciting style of basketball I missed in a sport that’s become dominated by 3 point shooting. I’ve become pretty invested in this franchise since then, (even with his antics and inconsistency) so it would suck to see him go. I’d still have love for this team though as I’ve grown to love you guys’ fan base. It’s one of the less toxic and down to earth fanbases I’ve come across.
Good, you have to look at offers
We just saw what trae young went for on the market and this the move we make?
A big problem is how well we played with just Edey and no Morant. That doesn’t help his case. I feel like if we can get 3 weeks of Ja and Edey and they ball out. The narrative will change.
Not how I saw this ending :/
An important piece to all of this is Ja’s extension negotiations. His Mom and Uncle are operating as his agents now, after parting ways with Mike Miller. I think the negotiations will be complicated & messy if we keep him. The Grizz front office knows this too.
💔
You just can’t have your most expensive player be unable to play. I love the early years with Ja but I can see how the relationship could have soured over the years with all the antics and injury issues
Maybe Ja needs a change of scenery because he sure hasn’t looked happy on the court
If someone wants to give us a stupid deal like we got for Bane, I’m all for it
I want to keep JA
But he just can’t stay on the court
Say it ain’t so! I understand that things are what they are and business is business so they have to listen to offers, but I’d hate to see him go. If he can’t stay healthy it’s like he already is gone tho.
After that terrible Trae Young deal I’m not liking this. I don’t want Ja to be traded but if we got a good young player and 4 picks it would make it hurt a lot less and that’s just not gonna happen with the way he’s played this year and the narrative around sub 6’4″ PGs right now. He’s better than he’s playing now and if you trade him for scraps you’ll regret it
Told everybody that last game where he played like his old self was his audition before getting put up. He was showing that he’s pissed at us but still got it. It’s done.
A couple of years ago, I would’ve dreaded this day, but today it feels time. Time for Ja to start the redemption arc we all thought he would have here, and time for us to build around our young core and try to be contenders. It still hurts, but we can look back on those few electric seasons. 12 will always have a place in my heart
if we can get a player who actually plays and some picks I’ll be fine. I love Ja and everything he’s done for the team (mostly) but it’s time to move on. Downvote me if you want but that’s how I see it
Can we trade the Grizzlies’ Conditioning Team as well?
It’s been a long time coming, unfortunately. We were never seeing the old Ja again.
That being said, if we end up with Dennis Schroeder or D’Lo, I might turn into the joker
And so the divorce begins. The best divorces end with an amicable dissoulution. Both sides wishing the other happiness and success. No need for the bitter, vindictive or even crazy theatrics. I Hope Ja all the best in wherever he lands. Like I did with Bane and Conley. Both thrived.
I am a BIG fan of women’s basketball both pro and college. I’ve always loved the dedication to the basic fundamentals and team play concept. It is what I wish men’s basketball still prioritized and not just in the college ranks. Memphis is moving back to these core fundamentals as are several other sucessful NBA teams and it’s not the style that Ja plays. Ja is of that ANT, Iverson, Carmelo “one man hero” mindset and always has been. We on the other hand are now moving in the other direction and the fit is not great.
I hope Ja finds the team and fit that suits him and like with Bane, and Marc and KG I will continue to catch his games when I can and wish him well going forward and secretly wish he could have found a way to fit in our new system
Finally. Dude hasn’t played in weeks over a bruise. He doesn’t want to play here so GTFO.
they’re gonna put him on a big market team like Bulls or Heat and then he’s suddenly gonna turn into the old Ja lol
