Ayton is not the long term answer

  1. Feel like most of us have been giving a pass because of his contract but he’s reverting to the mentally checking out because he doesn’t get his way. Pretty obvious by now that JJ has him in the dog house

  2. Really rough stretch Ayton is going through rn when overall he’s played above his $8m value, but he’s definitely playing himself out of his next contract. No synergy with Luka = not this team’s long term center.

  3. It’s almost like signing him for 1 year was to evaluate just this scenario, so crazy.

  4. Ayton plays worse when LeBron plays look at the stats not sure if he just gets confused or what

  5. Common sense. Neither in team probably besides Luka with two other white guys questionable to be. Short term or long term

  6. Reddish, Wood, now Ayton… Lakers giving guys chances who will be out the league soon.

  7. He kinda sucks. If/when he doesn’t have that soft touch around the rim then what is he offering?

  8. He seems like a head case and a baby pouting. This is why even the blazers couldn’t put up with him. If you can’t get 20 every night with Luka and LeBron feeding you then you aren’t even trying.

  9. The LFR pod made a good point that Ayton really misses the gravity that Austin and Rui commanded. As an offensive player, him moving up the priority list without us have the requisite offense is hurting him.

  10. He’s the stopgap. We needed any center and he was the best one available in an offseason that didn’t have good centers available. Like, do you really want to take washed Al Hortford or Brook Lopez

  11. It was a good first month or so, but man his motor (or lack thereof) is absolutely maddening

  12. Which is why we took a low risk flyer on him lol.

He’ll have better games but this is the Ayton experience.

  13. He’s not even short term answer. He fooled everyone early on and now he thinks it’s enough and gone back to his lazy ass ways. Guys has talent but he’s mentally trash.

  14. I’m sending a 1st for Claxton and securing him right now. Start building towards next year. This is clearly a gap year. Trade Rui for picks to a contender and get back some draft picks.

  15. Should definitely grab one of those really dominant two way centers you can get for scraps in today’s nba.

  16. It’s been known since we signed him that he was a stop gap. If you thought ayton was our future center then that’s on you

  17. Seems like he has the opposite problem of AD. He’s built to be a PF but can’t shoot the 3 ball and probably doesn’t want to play PF. AD is built like a C, can shoot the 3 ball OK, and hates playing C. SMH…

  18. He’s not motivated because there isn’t a good gameplan centered around him. He was super efficient in the first half of the season just based on last minute dumps and honestly with elite touch touch near the rim. Then you see Luka shooting those step back 3’s and going 4/17 or something from the midrange. Luka carries a lot of the offense, but the coach needs to step in and alleviate that workload, and I don’t think it’s crazy to make Ayton a bigger part of the offense in a more organized way. He’s not the type to just give the ball off to and make plays, but he will thrive with more intention of giving him the ball in the best position.

  19. I still don’t mind him at this contract, but if he’s going to be looking for more, I’d rather pass, depending on who is available

  20. Ayton looks like he’s 28yrs going on 45yrs. He needs to sleep in Lebron’s anti-gravity, cryotherapy, high oxygen chamber.

  21. Nobody on the team plays defense stop blaming Ayton. They don’t pass him the ball or play with pace. They just chuck up threes and drive and dish. Ayton will probably be more useful during the playoffs.
