The fact that they talk about all the top candidates having strong shots elsewhere and then say this dude is likely here almost in contrast just tells me none of those top candidates even answered the phone.

I wouldn’t be too thrilled with him, and he’s not my top choice but I think all fans are being too hard on him.
I think he’s earned a second chance in the NFL, he has created a great defense in Denver and as for offense he would poach someone from Peyton’s staff. I think he’s mentioned the QB coach who’s helped Bo Nix be who he is. That’s pretty promising.
There are choices I like way more, but every team’s fans are acting like even talking to him is equivalent to giving up for the next 5 years.
It would be a very underwhelming hire and it makes me nervous that so far at least Gambo thinks it’s very possible we end up with him.
Apparently he has a good relationship with Bidwill still.
I get the idea of trying to focus on a defense to shut down Sea/SF/LA instead of a offensive shootout but anytime you have a defensive HC and find a good OC you’re going to lose them. Just look at Detroit lmao

Started his first season as HC of the Broncs 3-1. Finished 5-11. Started second season 6-6 and finished 6-10. Sounds like a perfect match for us and how previous coaches did here.
Face it none of the top 10 coaches coming to az without some drastic changes
The problem is we need an offensive mind. Sure there are a few defensive minds and even Harbaugh (special teams) that have had success. Most successful non-offensive minds (Belicheck, Harbaugh, Tomlin) had really good quarterbacks or offensive coordinators that hung around or came back when they failed as head coaches. McDaniels is part of the reason Vrabel looks so good right now and why the Pats were okay the first season after Brady. Big Ben made a lot of bad OCs look fine in Pittsburgh. Flacco might not be a HoF QB but he was pretty good and so is Lamar.
Where’s our standout OC?
Where’s our world beater QB? (I think Kyler is a good starting QB but that’s not the same as HoF, and we seem destined to move on.)
If we don’t have either of those, we need an offensive head coach. Take a less experienced guy. Hire Klayton Adams back as HC. But get an offensive mind that can’t just be hired away as HC by the next loser.

I’m leaning toward nothing burger, Bidwill may be dumb but he’s not that dumb. Plus all the guys we just drafted especially our young extremely gifted young CBs don’t fit Vance Joseph’s defensive scheme. I love the Cardinals but If AZ were to hire a VJ or Raheem Morris I’d have to check out and not watch them for a few years.

I have a feeling AZ goes offense and I think they look to sign either Mike McDaniel, Klint Kubiak or Andy Reid protege Matt Nagy who was a good HC for never having a QB and I think he learned from past mistakes as I’m sure Mike has. I’d be down to hire Robert Saleh so long as he’s DC and so long as he brings OC Mike McDaniel with him or some up n coming offensive genius who runs Kyle’s scheme.
Say we hire McDaniel or Kubiak someone who knows how to maximize ALL OF THE TALENT they have on the field at WR/TE n RB who can maximize Harrison Jr, Wilson, McBride and Higgins talents in the pass game which Petzing NEVER COULD DO and clearly was in over his head. AZ could add one WR who can win inside/outside with 4.30-4.40 speed like Clemson 6ft-190lb Antonio Williams or 6”1-190 WR Skylar Bell whom I really like w/4.41 40. McDaniel made Tua work in his system, Kyler Murray is A MUCH BETTER far more gifted QB1 than Tuas ever been, you pair an elite offensive mind like McDaniel/Kubiak with Murray and AZ very quickly will have a top 5-7 offense again (as they did in 2024 ) with just a handful of moves as all AZ has to do is draft a premier bluechip OT prospect at RT to pair with one of the best young Top3-5 LTs in Paris Johnson Jr. Then sign a top RB prospect in FA like signing say top premier back RB Bryce Hall, a top 3 RB in 2024 b4 snapping his ankle in two in 2025 they should resign power RB James Connor who likely signs for nothing $2-$3M now that he’s 30 but if u limit his Carrie’s to 150-180 still has a lot left in the tank. Behind a premier mauling OL n now healthy I think 6”1-220 (4.37 40 excellent receiver with great hands) dual threat pass catching RB Trey Benson takes off in 2026 now healthy with far better blocking up front.
With just a few moves AZ could easily have a top 5-7 offense again by next season if they pair an elite offensive mind who can maximize their talents with QB Kyler Murray who will be back I think as it makes the most sense with Brissett as QB2 as this roster is very talented the problem was injuries not talent this year. With just a few small moves their offense will again be one of the best in football again by next season.
And the defense will be greatly improved to as after adding a few pieces offensively they’ll still have a ton of cap space $$$ and 5 draft picks to beef up the DL with. AZ beefs up their pass rush with an extremely talented loaded secondary they’ll quickly have a top 5 pass defense with the talent at CB n SAF and much better pass coverage amongst MLBs.
AZ will add defensive talents of course but a lot of young 2nd-3rd year players will really take off this next year such as BJ Ojulari, Jordan Burch, Back healthy DT Walter Nolen is an Elite All Pro level talent, DT Dante Stills will be better, as will Elite premier CB1 talent 6”2 CB Will Johnson n rookie
6”1 Denzel Burke, top 15 6”0-190lb SAF Dadrion Taylor Demerson n 5”11-195 Kitan Crawford both exceptional SAF talents, ILB Cody Simon has been excellent for a rookie who along with excellent ILBs Mack Wilson n A. Davis Gaither only get better in yr2. Zaven Collins is a player who as a pass rusher takes a big step forward next year as in just 230 pass rush snaps he had 31 pressures/12 Hits/2.5 sacks. I think he improves next season.
They’re not far from being a 11-12 win playoff team by next season once again esp if they hire an Elite offensive mind as your new HC. As I just laid out with just a few different moves AZ can build a top 5-7 offense with a dramatically improved top 10-12 well above avg defense. It’s critical AZ get this hire right if they do they could be a playoff team next season again .

How do you know. I have been watching for 21 years. Experience says you’re probably wrong about Bidwill. The next couple weeks will tell. Not trying to start an argument but what I see is exactly what I’ve seen happen before.

He almost got the job last time. Loved by the players and the administration. Able to turn players Monti doesn’t want into pro bowlers. Better record as a HC with a fraction of the talent than the guy Monti preferred last time.
I don’t think he gets the job but of course he was going to get a good look in.
