Feels deeply weird to be posting a celeb magazine here, but of all the tabloid mags, People is the magazine that celeb publicists tend to deal with directly, rather than just making stuff up out of thin air.
Seems the message Kelce wants to send is either he hasn’t definitely decided to retire. (Or that one of the networks better make him a really nice offer.)

It wont’ hurt to line up his gig now. Brady signed a deal with fox that kicked in upon retirement. He’s popular enough he can get a similar deal. Guaranteed he’s going to make more money broadcasting than he did on the field. Travis will be an excellent color commentary guy, and I think that’s what he wants. He wants to be in the booth, not on the analyst desk.
Umm…. Travis has access to one of the greatest publicists there is. But she works celebrity publicity. And as Travis transitions from the nfl… that’s what he needs.
The response to the complaints about Travis’ foundation was also in people… for the same reason
This is TOTALLY USELESS speculation from a knucklehead like me on reddit, but… he was talking about season duration and the stress of that a few weeks ago. He’s putting out feelers for his next life phase.
Putting it together, I wonder if Patrick comes back healthy, the team starts like 5-2 or whatever, vibes look good, etc. if he comes back for the second half of the season? Probably helps his marketability without the drain of doing a full year. And if Patrick isn’t back or the team looks broken, he can then move on to his next thing.
I’ve been interviewing for a bunch of jobs but it wont effect my decision to stay at my current job.
What options are available right now, next eysr, etc
He has a podcast that is worth a fortune. Him being married to Taylor swift makes that a goldmine.
But putting out the feelers as to what is available what are they willing to do, etc. He wants to be in a booth that’s where the money is and it drives content and exposure to his podcast. But most booths are set and locked. So this may be a come see us in 27. His proximity to Taylor makes him attractive at the Brady level. Acting is going to take awhile to build up ability, credability, etc.
Love to see him on a Sunday or Thursday booth rather than some half time studio analyst or doing shit TV game shows.
Those jobs will be there in a year, or in 10 years. There’s no hurry for him to start working.
Absolutely no reason for him to not hear offers so he can weigh his choices before making a decision.
Reportedly Netflix wants him to be their first exclusive broadcast commentator. That’d be a pretty huge deal to pass up.
A few athletes have signed deals to broadcast before they retire. I liken it to like a high school player committing to a school. Just because they commit to their next stop doesn’t mean they stop playing for their current team.
He’s going to have to learn more synonyms for exciting besides “electric”.
A key point in the article is that these discussions are not new to this season. Rather they have occurred over the past few years. IMO his sports background makes him a great candidate to cover baseball and basketball, even hockey as well. It would serve him well to do go his own way post pro career and just keep New Heights as his connection to Jason.
I don’t think he’s the guy in the booth sort of personality. He’s very knowledgeable about football, but he’s not super well-spoken. Jason carries their show, handles transitions well, and sounds much more comfortable behind a mic. I think Trav is good at scripted stuff, though, so maybe there’s something available there.
Don’t feel weird posting this here. As you mentioned, People often works directly with celebs’ publicists, and specifically, is Taylor’s publicist’s go-to source for correcting rumors.
This article is in response to another one in a different tabloid that said Trav was considering these offers, but didn’t make a note that these talks have been happening for years. The other article made it sound like the talks were new and that he was leaning toward retirement. This article is basically shutting that down.
(My worlds colliding. Swiftie knowledge 🤝 Chiefs discussion) 😂
Tbh I’d believe whatever People publishes about him. People is one of the only publications that Taylor’s publicist Tree reliably gives information to which makes it so they don’t publish false unverified stories about Taylor. Obviously she isn’t his publicist but I think it is very likely they wouldn’t publish information about him that isn’t verified in order to keep the relationship with Taylor’s team strong.
ETA: Personally I’d love to see ESPN give him and Jason their own show where each week they tailgate at a different stadium with the fans. Something along those lines fits their personalities perfectly.
Guy is a winner. He will be great on television. Hope any tv deal won’t have an impact on the podcast with Jason.
I say that as Patriots fan.
If you read the article, it mentions he’s been taking these offseason meetings for years and doesn’t necessarily mean anything.
He’ll make more money in broadcast but once he steps off that field and into the booth, he’s likely never going to put the pads on again. For a guy like Trav, who spent his life trying to get into the NFL and then succeeded beyond his wildest dreams, he still knows how rare it is to be that guy and to have a chance at greatness on the field.
I think he comes back and plays another year. Chiefs had a disaster of a season after a disaster of a SB. He doesn’t want to go out like that. And if Mahomes is healthy and they can fix some of their scoring issues, they are gonna be contenders to win another chip.
Why do so many players want to just not retire and disappear from public life? I’m 37 and all I want to don is retire so I can golf everyday and not have to be anywhere at a given time.
Just retire already
