Why Bringing Evander Kane Back Makes Zero Sense for the Oilers

Evander Kane returning to the Edmonton Oilers just doesn’t make sense. Between his $5M+ cap hit, the Oilers’ roster needs, and better ways to spend that money, a reunion feels off the table. Here’s why a Kane comeback in Edmonton is basically dead.

  1. id rather a kane than a fredric and mangiapane theyre paying 2 players 7 million who have a total of 14 points this season kane can score hit and fight his biggest flaws are the fact that the refs dont like him and hes getting old

  2. Get them to retain half and take Trent. So you free up 3.8 for 7 more and take half of 5 for 1. So you get Kane instead of Trent plus 1.5 m cap space and next year you have space for something good.

  3. Pretty sure if Vancouver retained salary on Kane, traded him to a team other than the oilers and then that team traded Kane to the oilers, Kane could play for the oilers at less than his $5 mil cap hit

  4. I would trade away the Fredric contract for Kane in a heart beat. Kane cost us some dumb penalties but at least he scores and offers some sand paper. Never understood the Fredric contract. There is almost zero contribution. At least with Kane, his contract is up soon. We are stuck with a paper weight for 8 years with Fredric.

  5. The OILERS lost a lot of Grit when they lost Perry and Kane. if Evander is 100% healthy it could be a good move. I like the fact he can score and he can get under the skin of his opposition
