Thoughts On Dante Moore & His 2026 NFL Draft Stock | Oregon vs Indiana Reaction

Dante Moore and Oregon were blown out by Indiana last night, however I don’t think that it impacted how teams should look at Moore as it pertains to the 2026 NFL Draft. As always.Go Jets!

Thoughts On Dante Moore & His 2026 NFL Draft Stock | Oregon Indiana Reaction

  1. Great calm, sober analysis, Ian. The part in which you went down the list of all these things the Jets are said to lack — things that the Raiders and Browns lack just as badly or worse — was award-winning stuff. As for last night, so Mendoza looked very good and Moore didn't look very good at all, though his offensive line completely collapsed on him disgracefully. But this is the time of the year when I start to separate from the fixation on specific players — call it The Pattern Recognition/Big Picture Phase. The Jets' current offense, particularly their passing game, would be disappointing for some of the better high school teams in California and Texas. So while I don't know, of course, exactly who Mougey will go after as a highly drafted QB and a solid backup vet who can be trusted to start the season, the flashing red sign reads: If the Jets don't start scoring points in the normal way of an even average NFL team, the franchise will become increasingly irrelevant in the league. (Maybe that's good if it prompts Woody to sell.)

  2. Yeah, but if the Jets draft Dante—assuming he declares—Jets fans need to cool their jets and stop putting pressure on him. Everything you said is spot-on: he needs to wait, sit, and learn, especially given what happened with Sam Darnold, which still kills me. He wasn’t handled properly, and we all know the knucklehead coaching situation that followed him.

Jets fans, listen: do not play this guy one snap next year. Let him develop. He’s athletic, he’s smart, and not everything that happened yesterday was his fault.

  3. All you had to do is watch Moore all year. This is who he has been. It would be a huge mistake at 2. Mendoza is the only can't-miss. If you're gonna take a project do it in the middle rounds.

  4. Too many questions now. It seems like a bigger gamble now than before, drafting him with the number two overall pick. Your assessment is correct but my reservations about his readiness have grown. There is a stronger possibility that he will return to school now.

  5. I'm not a big fan of Dante Moore but with that being said he's still a good quarterback but he should stay in school and learn more. If he comes out and the Jets pick him it would be a big mistake but isn't that what the Jets do well.

  6. Over 100mil in dead cap next season idk if they want to put a rookie into a depleted roster. We've been making the same mistakes recently. Lets go back to the year when we drafted Sanchez where he stepped into a stacked roster. Qbs can develop without help like maye but considering our luck history we cant keep doing shit the same way.

  7. Think Moore will declare with the "certainty" of being a Top 2 pick, and hope someone falls in love with the idea of trading up with the Jets for a chance at either QB. If the plan is to have a rookie sit anyways, why not load up on other positions of need and select QB3, 4, or 5 with later 1st or 2nd rounders? Or at all? Next years class? In favor of building up roster before throwing a young QB into the fray anyways.

  8. Moore is 20 and Mendoza is 22. You have to look at the upside of Dante with more time to develop. Besides the Jets will likely draft another QB prospect as well.

  9. Trade down with Cardinals acquire 3 and a 3rd round pick and Kyler. Pick BPA at 3 and 16. Draft Chambliss/simpson at 33 or trade back in 1st round for them

  10. This changes nothing for me other than put Mendoza ahead of Moore for me. Moore is still a top 2 qb in this upcoming draft and still has a lot of talent.

Indiana this year is like the Saban Era Alabama. They are just so much better and deeper than everyone that its almost unfair. They are clearly the best team in the NCAA and its pretty much not close. Moore had to face two top 5, arguably two top 3, defenses in a row. Not saying that its an excuse, but thats tough for anyone to go back to back against top defenses like that. He's just clearly a work in progress. Id still feel fine taking him at 2. But he needs to sit clearly.

And i think there are teams like the Titans that would trade up for Reese if we are looking to trade down. But the Jets have options. Not to mention Simpson and Chambliss will be out there later potentially. Jets still in a good spot.

  11. The thing with drafting a QB put him on the bench (which is smart) but if Glenn gets fired now we get a new coach with probably drafting another QB. The things we go thru as Jets fans 😂

  12. Moore wasn’t too impressive against Texas Tech either . I really think he needs to stay and get more experience. I do agree, the Jets should go with the mindset of having a veteran as the opening day starter.

  13. Optimism is nice, but blind optimism is how you become the present day Jets. If he comes out, they should definitely trade it and I thought that before the game. They need to do the opposite of what’s expected. Trade for picks next season. By then hopefully Glenn will be gone. If they take Moore, it’s going to be another disaster and everyone will be saying the same old Jets. Break the cycle and don’t keep doing the same thing over. Look into Will Levis for next season. He can’t be any worse than anyone they have now.

  14. Moore is so young still. How can anyone think by week 8 next season he’ll be able to see the field and make the right throw?

  15. Indianas defense may of just saved Darron Mougeys career with the jets. I don’t know if you can watch last night, and still think Donte Moore is NFL ready qb especially worthy of being the #2 pick. That Hoosiers D is the closest replica you will see to a NFL defense and the jets can’t afford to have another Zach Wilson. Too bad we beat the falcons. Nick folk 56 game winner is very reminiscent of Braden mann’s game saving tackle. Mendoza is the type of qb you’d want to jets to see claim. Someone who process’s fast, delivers strikes, puts his body on the line, processes the defense and leads his team to victory. Kid always comes prepared. Raiders got their guy, I hope the Jets trade back.

  16. If I were Moore, at 20 soon to be 21 years old, I would think taking the $10 million and playing another year of college National Championship football would be more fun than sitting on an NFL sideline.
