Just realized that because Ottawa doesn’t have their FRP this season, our second rounder is technically the 32nd pick – which is also technically a first rounder (albeit the worst one) in every other year

GOD BLESS TANK COMMANDER FOOTE

  1. Before anyone gets too excited, remember folks it’s a draft lottery and let’s remember one thing. It’s the Vancouver Canucks so if you’re gonna lose anything you’ll lose the draft lottery.

  2. This could be the most pivotal season in Canucks history if they play the cards right. They got the equivalent of four 1st round picks for the Hughes trade, and should have 4+ picks in the top 40 this year, including a potential top-3 pick.

In 5 years we could look back at this being the year that built the blocks of a contender, or as a massive missed opportunity. No pressure though Rutherford/Allvin

  3. Stacking picks in this year’s first round is unironically the fastest way to do this hybrid rebuild/fast turnaround that management wants. Don’t think it’s necessarily the right move – I’d much prefer drafting high in the following years for a true Celebrini-esque superstar – but it beats keeping the vets.

  4. I think I heard that the 2nd round this year isn’t that great. Ideally we have the assets to trade up the Minnesota pick or the last place pick for a mid tier pick so we can pick in the top tier, mid tier and bottom tier of round 1

  5. There is always someone there at the very beginning of the season ond round that would be a steal. Knowing us, we will not pick this person who drops

  6. If the Canucks tank again next season I think Franny is gonna have a heart attack with how much lost cash flow he’ll get lol

  7. I’m also a Hornets fan and if the draft has taught me anything, you can win the lowest amount of games in the league and still end up with Michael Kidd-Gilchrist and Brandon Miller (not complaining) instead of Anthony Davis and Wemby…

  8. Nucks need to dump everyone who is valuable. As a Habs fan, I’ve seen some players I really liked go. They are infinitely better for making those trades…

  9. Question from seeing all this… are there any huge upcoming stars like celebrini or bedard? Or could our best case scenario be a Nugent-Hopkins

  10. I think the best place to pick is second overall and here is why. There is some doubt about McKenna and whether he is actually an #1 pick so you let another team pick who they are going to take and the Canucks either way get a great player and if that first overall pick doesn’t pan out (which would be the Canucks luck) your (Canucks) pick is made for them.

  11. And watch, Vancouver will trade any first round draft picks they have to try to shore up the lines and make a playoff run instead of dedicating to an actual rebuild.

  12. The last team to finish bottom 2 in the standings and not draft top 3 is the Canucks – they finished 2nd last in 2016 and picked 5th
