The real question is how does Jim Schwartz feel about it
GOOD!
Hope the coaches we want to hire share that preference
Makes a ton of sense, I’d love that as an incoming offensive minded HC too. Especially if I’m a first timer, allows me to focus on one thing more than the other.
I remember when they were telling candidates they wanted to retain Kitchens as OC and then just gave him the head coaching job because nobody was okay with that.
Guess that means Schwartz won’t be the coach.
I dont like that because its gonna turn away someone like Harbaugh who wants control of his staff hiring.
I get wanting to keep Schwartz, but if you believe in someone to hire them as HC then you need to believe in him to hire his own staff.
Makes sense, except that can tip established coaches into the “no” column, as most would prefer to choose their own staff
Yeah I don’t think it’s a good idea to pressure any head coach into making certain staffing hires. Not to say we are – but hard to know without details.
What incoming coach would not want Schwartz?
Good!!
It’s obvious now that they’re simply trying to replace Stefanski. I wonder if AB tried to address the entitled attitude at the podium, lack of accountability due to things outside of his control, and incorrect quarterback selection (Gabriel) and preseason prep or did they just can his ass.
I felt like AB and Stef were always too buddy buddy. In those situations it can be hard for managers to provide feedback in a constructive and effective way. I could see AB being totally hands off but having expectations that aren’t being entirely made clear to Stefanski.
At this juncture, I would be about Harbaugh coming in and cleaning house, including his GM – but it looks like the Brown’s plan B is to find a new Stefanski and probably also that the new coach looks like George Clooney 😂
This barely seems to be news. Like of course they would be interested in keeping him, and they like him. Didn’t say it was a dealbreaker. I would feel like this is more of presenting an option to coaches that Jim is good, his side of the ball is stellar, and if you want to mantain the status quo, we’re good with that
I think that being honest upfront is admirable.
He gone
We honestly shouldn’t be considering a defensive coach. Defense isn’t our problem. If we had a league-average offense this season, we’d probably be a playoff team.
I like Stefanski, but he was supposed to be a quarterback whisperer. And the two things he completely failed to do were identify and develop a franchise quarterback.
Bout time we did something smart.
Ah fuck.
This little nugget leads me to believe McDaniel is getting the offer. It doesn’t figure to be a defensive coach to get the HC offer if they’re banging the drum for Schwartz to stay on as DC.
And AB is the only GM on the same frequency as MM neurodevelopmentally.

It just makes too much sense.
