Is Bryce Eldridge just not as well respected around the league as we think he is or are organizations assuming he isn't going to be in the MLB this year? Becuase this just seems wild that he didn't get one vote for polling of most likely to win 2026 NL ROY by MLB executives. Not one? Currently on MLBs top prospect rankings, he is #12 (and #5 if only looking at the NL). Just seems really odd to me that he isn't even in the conversation here.

  1. Because most of those players will be able to effect the game in multiple ways where Bryce will be limited to DH/1B vs higher ranked prospects who could impact key defensive position and with speed on the bases.

Imo it wouldn’t be shocking if Bryce is the best hitting prospect and wouldn’t win it because of one of the other guys did so much better.

    Let them doubt him.

  2. I’m not 100% convinced Eldridge starts in the majors – might be good for him to get more reps at first down in AAA – it’s not like he even did the full season down there, and let him get a steady diet of breaking balls before forcing the issue. I’m cool with him making it to the majors too, but there is no rush. he’s 21!

  3. It’s not that there’s a lack of respect, it’s just that I think a lot of people think he’s still a few years away from being ready. It took fellow big guy Judge until he was 24 or 24.

He has a lot of time and rushing him really doesn’t help anyone.

  4. My guess is two things:

    1. They think is ability to impact the Major League game will require some time and adjustments rather than coming up and dominating immediately, with his strikeouts. A reasonable assessment.

    2. They think his playing time in the Majors will be limited, expecting him to start in Triple-A and when he does come up, not play everyday because of Devers. Again, reasonable.

Not every productive player dominates right away.

That said, I’m disappointed he didn’t even get a single vote.

  5. When was the last time the Giants successfully drafted, trained, and promoted a legit ROY Hitter?

  6. In his 10 games in the bigs, with 37 plate appearances, Eldridge rang up a .476 OPS with 5 (Five!) total bases (one single, 2 doubles), seven walks … Pretty fair to say he didn’t make the most of his cup’o’coffee.

Why would he be in anyone’s top 5 or even top ten predictions?

  7. He’s tall and young so there’s the assumption that his adjustment will take a bit longer. I expect him to hit for a low average and strikeout a lot but hit bombs and walk a good amount. He’ll probably be a primary DH as well so that likely hurts his candidacy.

  8. Eh, I’m only a little surprised as our prospects and farm system in general have barely started getting respect around the league this year, jumping from the bottom to the middle of the pack.

Should be getting more respect moving forward after another #1 international prospect and the upcoming draft with the #4 involved.

I am more surprised about not getting a vote for Bryce as we all know every exec knows him since that’s all teams ask for when we attempt trades around the league, lol.

However, with an unproven coaching staff and Bryce being so young, his expectations are probably low around the league. It’ll be up to him and the new hitting staff to prove them wrong, and I have no doubt he’ll get every chance this year to do so.

  9. We’re in an echo chamber. While Giants fans might think this is a top prospect (for our standards), there’s most likely better more mature prospects out there who can make more of an immediate impact.

  10. He didn’t look all that good in his little preview last season, so I’m not all that surprised

  11. Without talking about his abilities, he is a long ball hitter playing in one of the least friendly home run parks in the bigs.

  12. Giants drafting rules again! They didn’t have a position for him? Now they’re trying to make him a first baseman
We’ve seen this before..Devers at 1st also, Luciano anywhere we hope say the Giants, Schmitt at 2nd, Crawford ? The beat goes on..

  13. He just turned 21. 3 out of the 4 guys are 23-24 years old. Griffin will be 20 in April, but is the #1 prospect in the minors: [https://www.mlb.com/milb/prospects/top100/](https://www.mlb.com/milb/prospects/top100/) While Griffin has way less PAs (563), his limited stats look a bit better than Bryce. Half ass internet research says he is pretty good on the field unlike Bryce: [https://www.sportsinfosolutions.com/2025/08/28/stat-of-the-week-no-1-mlb-prospect-konnor-griffin-is-a-defensive-standout/](https://www.sportsinfosolutions.com/2025/08/28/stat-of-the-week-no-1-mlb-prospect-konnor-griffin-is-a-defensive-standout/)
