Unless the Cubs plan to DH him, this is a horrible move. Someone needs to convince me that Bregman in 2026 is better than Matt Shaw at third. Shaw is a much better defender with lots more speed and bat that's shown power and OBP. This isn't MVP caliber Bregman from 2018. He's far removed from his best years and now they have 5 of adequate when they have a future gold glove and potential All-Star wasting a year of development. C'mon, Cubs, show me you know what you're doing and not just happy to make a few headlines and placate obnoxious Cub podcater/sports radio dorks.
