Extension talk is dead. Trade deadline option for AD is dead.
-
"October 1 is almost 9 months away.. he will be a Maverick then"
-
Jef Stotts aka InStreetClothes: As Anthony Davis seeks out a hand specialist, it is worth noting he has previously suffered multiple injuries to his left hand including a 5th metacarpal fracture & a volar plate avulsion fracture to his left index finger. He avoided surgery for both these injuries.
-
The Hawks never actually gave the Mavericks an offer.
-
The Hawks were never willing to give up Risacher. The Hawks were not going to make a deal until Trae Young was traded and the trade was finalized AFTER AD was injured that Friday. (Unclear if they would have given up a First round pick)
-
The Raptors may have made a deal but would have had to taken bad contracts back like Poehtl and RJ Barrett.
-
AD had a nasty eye procedure in the off-season and was most likely not available to be traded then anyway.
-
**Anthony Davis needs to play 55-60 games in order to be traded.
-
The likelihood is AD will be on the roster at training camp.

Good run down from Stein but nothing really surprising. Now it will be interesting to see who they are trading instead. They have to trim salary but still want to be good next season.
If 55-60 games is needed for the bum to be traded then looks like we are just gonna be riding out his atrocious contract and letting him walk. No chance in Hell he ever plays that many games in a season for Dallas.
Good trade, much success.
AD is going to be one expensive part time player next two, probably three seasons when he picks up that player option. Odds are he isn’t going to play 55-60 games a season again in his career. Mavs are going to have to build the roster around Cooper on the cheap.
Marc should be happy. He went on every DLLS post game show this season crying about how we should keep AD until the summer because some mythical “better deal” would be available, how we shouldnt give him away for nothing.
For someone smart, whose been around the league forever, its crazy he couldnt understand almost everyone wanted him traded as soon as possible BECAUSE THE GUY IS PERPETUALLY INJURED.
And today on the show he kept going on and on and on about how the Mavs now have AD’s massive contract to worry about. Yeah dude, THATS WHY EVERYONE WANTED HIM GONE ASAP.
You missed the biggest part. They had interest in AD but it all depended on Trae being traded. Trae finally got traded but AD got hurt before it ess finalized in paper.

Poetl and Barrett are **good** contracts if they’re what you’re getting for trading away AD. They’re only bad in isolation. Meanwhile, AD’s contract is both bad in isolation and relatively to any other potential trade piece. AD is so bad he makes any team trading for Ja Morant look like a genius move.

On a technicality – he’d probably still be in street clothes until mid-November. lolololol
Among the reasons for trading AD by trade deadline vs waiting this summer, one of the big reasons was to create financial flexibility this summer. As we are, this roster will go over the 2nd tax apron when including our 1st round pick’s salary. That’s why a potential Hawks trade would have been best, if it included the $41 million in expiring contracts of KP and Kennard. Now we have to find other ways to create that flexibility by the trade deadline like trading Gafford and/or Naji, since they have the most value. Klay maybe if we can find a team interested without taking back future salary.
Taking a package of Barrett and Poeltl would have done nothing to help that. Barrett’s contract is not bad since it is expiring after next season, but that Poeltl’s contract is pretty bad itself for a pretty average center and runs longer than AD. His injuries are starting to pile up the last 2 years, with the latest being an ongoing back issue.
Lakers really had a grenade with him and Nico decide to catch it for our best player.
Thank God we have Casey Smith to make that a feasible outcome…
lol this is Dante exum with a gigantic shitty contract
Jesus man. The trade that literally haunts you. Fire Nico.
Can we fire Nico again?
