Good roundup here on comments Niebla made to Ben & Woods about the depth of the pitching staff. I know that's his job, but Niebla seems more bullish on Sears, Vasquez, and the bullpen depth. Sounds like Adams and Brito won't be a factor until mid season.
Gets me fired up! I still have my doubts on the Sears evaluation after watching him last year, but good sign he's a hard worker and developing his cutter.
Thoughts?

Maybe that’s true, but I’m still gonna use this opportunity to make a gaslightball.com joke
these articles always seem to hit as we cope and then out of nowhere Preller makes a signing we never thought would happen.
We’re a far better team if Randy is our #5 Sears is our #6 starter.
Starting pitching needs reinforcements if the team wants another 90+ win season
There is a reason why Preller traded for Sears. Hopefully he steps up big this season with Niebla mentoring throughout camp.
Imagine the pitching coach making public comments about the projected 4th and 5th starters saying he hopes the team doesn’t have to rely on them as more than depth. What else is he supposed to say?
In Niebla we trust.
> That does not include the returning Jason Adam, who will likely be ready early in the season to join the bullpen.
Also what is Niebla supposed to say? Of course he’s gonna hype up his guys. But truthfully I don’t see anything about Sears that I’m excited about. He’s an innings eater at best and we’d be much better if he was an emergency starter rather than an everyday starter.
Sears and Hart seem to be on a similar trajectory. Personally, at this point, I’d go with Hart over Sears in the final spot just from experience and his stuff is a tick better.
Granted this isn’t an in depth evaluation, just preference.
Sears my have more value as a long reliever, lefty specialist in the pen.
Stil,l would love to see our Pads add two starters.
You can never have enough arms.
