I could be wrong but I believe he has to get a procedure(s) done.
Guessing ailing body and procedure. Needs to rest as much as possible for 2026’s season
He’s been banged up the last two seasons.
The man will be 37 this year, my guess is that part of the reason is to rest and be as healthy as possible for the for the upcoming season.

My hope is nothing except wanting to rest and prepare for Spring Training. I also hope that his kids kindly reminded him that he’s 36 and will be 37 in September. The Dodgers need him rested up for the year. A three-peat is within reach. No one needs any of these guys getting knocked out for 3 months because of a silly exhibition tourney.
I despise the WBC. It may be an unpopular opinion, but I just like MLB and the Dodgers. I want the Dodgers to win. I want the guys to be healthy. Shit happens with freak accidents. I’d hate to see any of these guys get hurt.

World baseball classic should be shorter and every 4 years. It’s too much for pitchers and positions players with the long post season. Players need time to recover especially after 35 years old. They’ve been playing the same sport since childhood.
Best case is it’s just him deciding yeah I am old and have a lot of injuries and played deep the past few years and need to rest
Worst case I don’t want to type to tempt fate
I’m glad he’s pulling out honestly. He’s been so damn banged up for 2 years now. He should be giving his body a rest.
