FUTURE: New Orleans Saints Found Answer At Quarterback In Tyler Shough, Marking 2025’s Biggest WIN

The New Orleans Saints may have lost to the Atlanta Falcons, but their biggest win came off the scoreboard: rookie quarterback Tyler Shough has firmly established himself as New Orleans’ future at quarterback

With the team set to face a last-place schedule in 2026, expectations are mounting for major steps forward. Chase Young and Cam Jordan hit double-digit sacks a first for a Saints tandem since 2013 in a defensive revival under Brandon Staley, while the Saints’ promising draft capital and competitive culture have fans optimistic. Key areas needing attention include historically poor first-quarter performances, run defense improvements, and player health.

  1. Your passion is undeniable. Chasing your dreams and, not just settling, but always going above and beyond does not go unnoticed. I don’t personally know you, but am proud of you Ross. Keep up the great work my man.

  2. This was a rebuilding year. Rookie everything darn near. I was happy to see 3-4 wins and the growth together . Thrilled with 6 wins and looking forward to next season . So happy to have at least sat the Yucks out of the playoffs and stayed in top ten picks having to end the win streak 😢 . Confident about next season

  3. My entire family knows your voice in my house. Thank you for a great year and for the laughter from my kids asking people hows their momma and dem

  4. Please keep in mind this man is without all of his weapons and starters. The o line looks like swiss cheese. We found our man and only see him getting better. Once he learns to throw the ball away and stop taking those ugly sacks, that alone will proppel him to being a top 10 qb in the NFL. That interception in 4th qtr is 100% on the play call. That was the identical slant route they ran 3 other times. To dial it up a 4th time was insane.

  5. Thanks for your passion Ross. And remember, you are our voice in the media room. You are asking the questions and getting the answers that we the WHODAT Nation have for the coaches and players.

  6. This season was not an offensive breakout.
It was a defense-led survival year, and most pundits missed it.

Coverage stayed lazy and QB-centric. Every win became a quarterback story. Every loss got pinned on execution. Meanwhile, a newly installed defense quietly kept the season alive against a brutal schedule.

Rattler took the punishment no one wanted to contextualize.
Shough got the credit no one bothered to properly distribute.

    “Calm.” “Belief.” “Momentum.”
Those are feelings — not causes.

    The real reason games stabilized?
Field position. Clock control. Compressed scores. Defensive discipline.

Giunta and Staley built a unit that refused to let the season collapse. That should’ve been the headline. Instead, defense was treated like background noise and quarterback vibes got center stage.

This isn’t an F — no fake coronations.
    But it’s not a B either.

Too much narrative. Not enough structure.

The Saints didn’t survive because the QB felt steady.
They survived because the defense wouldn’t let the season die.

  7. Agreed , Saints have found their quarter back, depending on what the team does in the off season, they can be very scary next year, giving Shough the time he needs, great smart coach in Kellen!

  8. Your passion and positivity is inspiring Ross. Especially as a life long Saints fan, we’ve all seen heartbreak. It’s not always easy. But you inspire a lot of people to keep the faith. You’re always a pleasure to watch. I’ll see you next year brother, take care and WhoDat!

  9. Thanks for all your hard work Ross! When our heads were down in the begging of the year…you always find a bright side of thangs bro! You are one of the best reporters for our beloved Saints and we are so grateful to have you bro! Much love my Dawg keep it up 💯 🦾🦾
