Ben Cherington discusses Pirates; remaining offseason plans

  1. Seems like they won’t go all in for one guy which is the thing I wanted to know the most

  2. I don’t see them adding much more than a veteran starting pitcher. Maybe they add Moncada as a platoon 3B, but they aren’t landing Suarez.

  3. Missing out on Suarez isn’t the end of the world. I personally want him, but I also know that there are other attainable options out there. Guys like Jung, Bohm, and Rengifo are all upgrades. Hell, I’d even call the Cubs to find out what it would take to get Shaw now since he has no place.

  4. So in their first of two attempts to build a World Series contender around the generational talent that fell into their lap, the pirates added two poor defenders with slightly above average bats and called it a day.

Surely that will win over a dejected and/or apathetic fanbase!

  5. Fun fact, if the season started today we would have almost the identical salary as we did last year.

So far all GMBC has done is blow sunshine and hope up our behinds. Nothing has changed. We just bought some players to cover for the salaries we dumped last year.
