I know we're all still pretty angry after yesterday's game, but I wanted to get your thoughts on how folks will be viewing our 3 core guys of this era. How will these 3 be viewed upon a decade or so from now?

  1. Panarin will be remembered as the best free agent signing in franchise history. Fox will go down as one of the best defensemen the Rangers have ever had. Mika will be thought of as a good player who had a lot of productive seasons, but a step down talent wise from the other two.

  2. They’ll be remembered like most of the best players in Rangers history — great individual stars that never won shit.

  3. Similar to how you view hank zucc and (couple different could slot into #3) nash. Beloved but ultimately missing that this thing required to have a won a cup, which wouod put them in parallel with graves, messier, leetch etc

  6. Fox has more runway with the Rangers unless they really want to blow things up. If he maintains top 5-10 defenseman in the league for a while longer he could be seen as a great, but needs more personal or team hardware to enter another tier of legacy.

    Zibanejad and Panarin will end up being the guy we cheer when they show up at the Garden after retirement, but nothing more. Don’t see either being retired but I can see both being invited back and recognized at the first TV timeout. Both would be invited to Alumni games.

    In most cases, after players are gone/retired for a few years, fans and the team generally come around even if it didn’t end great.

    Fox – surely he’ll have his number retired one day

    Mika – he’ll be cheered when he comes to games as a retired player 

  11. The core of a team that was extremely fun for a few years, very good but not good enough. I honestly think the collapse will be remembered much less than the good times 

  13. A fun run but wasted chances and going out with a complete whimper.

    We watched the game evolve and our team did not.

  14. Good players, on a team not good enough to win it all. Good players in an organization not committed to winning it all.

  18. Will be remembered as good rangers who gave us some good moments. Fox will probably have his number retired and stay a career ranger. But last year changed how I’ll look at this era, they quit. They won’t be able to wash that off.

  19. Reminds me a lot of the Jagr years. Roll the dice, stand pat w/ what you got, hope something happens, and nothing does.

  21. Bread will go down as the best free agent signing in franchise history, Mika will likely wind up among top franchise leaders in several offensive categories, and Fox will go down as one of the top defensemen in franchise history, provided he’s healthy going forward.

  24. No legacy at all, really. They’ve all been great players at different times with some bumps along the way and I’ll always appreciate them as rangers, but there are no legacies short of the Cup. Hank was the last legacy, and the fact he didn’t get to lift the Cup during his career is criminal.

  25. I will remember Mika and Panarin very fondly. We had some great runs and theyve played some incredible hockey for us.

    Fox isn’t going anywhere and will be an all time player for our club.

  26. Same way a lot of Rangers from the 80s are viewed. Great offensive numbers, but just not good enough to be one of the top teams.

  28. I think the idea would be that Fox’s legacy will be in a different window overall then Panarin and Mika’s

  32. Same as all the other teams that were almost great. Only the 94 team will be remembered forever. Time has proved it’s basically impossible to win a Cup here.

  34. No Cup, No Legacy. Thanks for stopping by, haha. Anyone remember what happened in 2023? First round loss to the Devils, haha. Maybe that’s the legacy, great in the regular season, win a President’s Trophy, Can’t beat Akira Schmid in the first round of the playoffs.
