Watching the 49ers beat the Eagles in the Wild Card round after losing Kittle to an Achilles injury mid game just makes our situation even more frustrating.
The Niners have been absolutely hammered by injuries all season. And yet they have still won games, made the playoffs, and are now moving on to the divisional round. They won games with Mac Jones starting. Mac went 5-3 as the starter.
Meanwhile, Carlie keeps Ballard after nine years of mediocrity. She said the start of the year was proof that Ballard and Shane can win, and then acted as if the injuries explained why we lost 7 straight games and missed the playoffs after an 8-2 start.
It doesn’t.
Good teams deal with injuries. Good organizations have depth. Good coaching staffs adjust. The 49ers are the perfect example of what competent management and coaching look like in the NFL.
San Francisco continues to compete every year regardless of adversity. Ballard and Lynch were both hired the same year. John Lynch in his time as GM has 4 playoff berths, 3 NFC titles, 3 NFC championship appearances, and 2 SB appearances. All with Jimmy G and Mr. Irrelevant as their QBs. And then winning lots of games with backups.
Indy keeps lowering the bar and asking fans to be patient while having 1 playoff win and only 2 playoff berths in that same time frame. And let's not even talk about our QB carousel.
I can't believe we have to go through another year of this.

Whiffed on a top draft pick at QB, realized their mistake, and cut bait as soon as possible.
Found a franchise QB in the seventh round, yet Chris Ballard can’t find a QB anywhere in the draft in nine years.
Loses one star player after another, but has good depth, something the Colts don’t seem to know you need.
Eagles are so overrated this season but yes I agree
He’s running circles around Ballard. We basically dealt with identical injury situations key position wise (they had it worse tbh) and they r still having success. Not to mention they’ve had relative success (along with heartbreak) for the past 7-8 years
Culture. The Colts have none of it, teams that fight when adversity comes not only survive but find ways to win.
One has Kyle Shanahan the other has a knock-off
And one hell of a safety !
He has also done this in a much tougher division! He came in dealing with the russ led seahawks and now seattle is once again a powerhouse and the rams won a super bowl in that time as well
you neglected to mention, Ballard and Lynch were hired by their respective teams in the same year about the same time. Lynch acquired Shannahan and the Colts settled for Frank Reich.
Interesting how the resume of 1st time GM’s are so varied over the same time span. I remember Colin Coward, stating the 49ers made a flashy move and the Colts made the smart move. 🫤
Purdy solving the Lance situation really saved this mans entire legacy.
Bro pissed away 3 first rounders for Trey Lance and it barley fazed them
Care to know which other teams selected a new GM the same offseason as the 49ers & Colts?
The Chiefs and Bills. How would you like to be Ballard showing up to *that* class reunion. It be like the other guys are showing off their accolades but politely pause so that Chris can say something, but all he has to offer is that he married his cousin…
What I like about them is even with all the injuries, they fight through it and they don’t make excuses. The mental toughness of the Colts seriously needs to be questioned. This team folds every year down the stretch.
We don’t want that in Indy. It’s better to just to talk about being better at our job every year for 10 years
Unlike Ballard of the Indianapolis Colts – YES!
Oh look, another self deprecating Colts post. Dime a dozen.
49ers haven’t won a Super Bowl in 31 years. It’s been failure since. Not winning a Super Bowl is failure. It’s not winning.
