Luis Arraez hasn't signed with any team this offseason, and his future in San Diego is uncertain. Luis has great potential and a lot of talent, but it seems teams are more focused on what he couldn't be than on what he could be. The only certainty here is that the market continues to grow, benefiting many but putting others at a disadvantage. What do you think?

  1. I’d be fine with bringing him back on a short term prove-it deal like the one Profar got a few seasons ago. He can be a valuable bat if he’s hitting lower down in the lineup.

  2. Sign him. Team friendly but sign him. Give him 3-4 million. But bring him back. He’s great player and great teammate.

  3. Small ball always has its place. He’d have a higher WAR if we had the bats to bring him back in

  4. Between Sheets, Crone, and Song, assuming Crone isn’t traded we need a right handed batter badly. Not another lefty who plays similar positions

  5. Preller seems to value good contact bats, so hopefully he stays. La regardera is a solid piece

  6. I love Arraez and hate the shit he gets but I understand it. Let’s get him back, he’s a great teammate and a solid 5-6.

  7. For Arraez to be worth it, he needs to hit 320. Under 300 with no power and subpar defense is not worth taking a roster spot.

  8. Do what it takes to keep him. Other available guys may have a higher Slg., but they also strikeout wayyyyy more. I’ll take 2 for 4 (singles) to keep the line moving. It gives Tati, Mach, Merrill, one more AB per game.

  9. All you knuckleheads hating on Luis when he’s just trying to enjoy a succulent Chinese meal.

  10. Concussion is no joke, both Arraez and Merrill really fell off for quite some time after their head injuries last year. Both looked to be getting back to their old selves towards the back end of the season.

I’m all for bringing him back if it doesn’t break the bank.

  11. Arraez has so much talent and I hate to see him undervalue .. I hope someone pony’s up 5/70 .. honestly would not surprised if he ends up in NY

  12. Arraez signs a 1-year contract with a non-contender… and then Preller re-acquires him at the deadline for Campy and a Cali Burrito

  13. If the price is right, why not resign him? Definitely don’t overpay for a guy who’s only known for hitting singles.

  14. Quite frankly I would rather see if Campy can hit and get regular at bats then sign Arraez again. His bat has zero value in the post season. Good guy, but he’s not a difference maker and has no position on this team.

  15. unless they don’t have money to sign a 1B with better slug or are unable trade for one, it’s best to just pass on arraez.

it’s not that he doesn’t have a place for some team’s line up in the back half of the order with his contact ability but with padres lineup composition they need someone with power in the 1B slot. generally that’s where teams hide the guys with more power that can’t play more challenging defensive positions.

  16. I’m sorry but I do not want him back. He is not a smart, winning, baseball player. I can’t stand him staring at fastballs down the middle and swinging at ball 4 up by his head.

  17. Follow him on IG and the other day that he posted his workout to his story he looked to be in great shape.

  18. The problem with Luis is he’s only valuable when he’s hitting .330+. He can’t play defense, he doesn’t run bases well, and he doesn’t draw w enough walks.

He very well could return to the batting champion form he had been in. But if he doesn’t he is negative player to have rostered.
