  5. Bless Demko for how much he wants to play, but no point pushing it in a lost season just to get lit up.

  6. This is why I said from the start last year heading into the off-season, trade Demko, keep Silovs.

    We renewed Demko and that disappointed me. Look at him now.

  9. Gotta feel for Demko, he’d be a top 10 arguably a top 5 goaltender in the league if it wasn’t for injuries.

    He’s also a big competitor, he wants to get out there and help the team win. Unfortunately that means its harder to shut him down if he still feels like he can “play through it”

  13. I hope he isn’t out for the entirety of the season. Not because we need him but because the guy needs to play actual games. He’s barely played the last two season and next season his new contract extension begins. We can’t be paying a player $8.5m to not only not play games but also suck whenever he actually does play.

  14. Man, I really feel for Demko. He’s such an easy guy to root for. 

    Drafted over a decade ago, just a super solid pro/leader for the team, but just one of those players where injuries unfortunately derailed his career. 

    By all accounts, the guy takes his preparation super seriously but unfortunately goaltending is just really tough on the body.  

  15. Don’t understand why they didn’t do this after the Hughes trade. Literally no reason to play him after that, season was over anyways. Management/coaching are completely boneheaded and short-term looking.

    He’s a phenomenal goalie
    His body just doesn’t agree with what he’s doing. This must be incredibly frustrating for him.
    I hope and pray he can make a full and unrushed recovery

  20. Didn’t need to give any of the 1 year guys extensions till end of mid season this year… What a joke… Any why were they playing him like an everyday starter when he came back

  24. How did this management group sign Demko to an $8.5×3 with his injury history? I know he wants to be a Canuck, but it’s such a crazy price to pay for someone who has had significant injuries the past few seasons.

    I just hope for his sake he ends up being okay

  28. I think Demko will be one of the bigger what it’s when he retires.  Maybe I’m being bias, but if he managed to stay healthy throughout his career, he’s one of the top goalies in the league.  He probably makes the US Olympic team this year, too.

    Shut him down for his own health and for the tank.

  29. My heart breaks for Demko. You can see how badly he wants to compete and to keep going, and from what we can see he sure comes off as a really good dude. Man has just been cursed with just the WORST luck.

  30. Gutted for him. If it’s anything like my injuries it affects not only your career and aspirations but your overall quality of life. Very frustrating to look like any other young fit dude and have people saying “Bruh just use CBD oil!” or “That’s nothing! Wait until you’re my age”.

    Tbh. Shut him down for 2-3 years and he can come back in peak Vézina super healthy form as mckenna and DuPont lead us

  32. Super sucky, but at least use him as much as we can in terms of his experience, knowledge, maybe mentoring the young goalies on the team, he seems like a good guy, and he’s set money wise for life lol.

  38. Making a huge number of insane acrobatic saves during those Benning seasons with shitty defence destroyed his body.

    They should have traded him for anything, even athletic tape. Now he is almost completely worthless. Maybe a 7th round pick.

  47. Honestly I know this really sucks and I hate seeing this happen to great players. But there’s a massive silver lining here.

    At this point, I’m cheering for anything that stops this team from going on it’s stupid end-of-season heaters that fuck us in the lottery chances.

    I know this might be one of the most dismal years in our club’s history, but it needs to be exactly that.

    God it’s satisfying to think Aquilini has reached the end of the enshittification runway and now he has no options left.
